My mood while writing this blog: confused |
Question......so Berlyn is 1 month old already and she is eating about every 2hrs. She eats up to 4oz each time. Well I only produce about 2oz of breast milk every 4hrs, so I have to give her formula...well what do ya'll think about mixing rice cereal in her formula??? So many of my friends tell me to wait till she is at least 3 months old and some tell me I can give it to her now. I did try it once a day for couple days and she did just fine with it. She's pooping just fine. Opinoins please???? Plus... I'm hardly producing any milk...I'm gonna start trying a natural vitaim called Phenogreek...has anybody tried it????

Wednesday, 16 Dec First of all - I love the name Berlyn!! And she is beautiful! As for your question - I would not advise on cereal in any bottle - she's way too young. And as for breastfeeding - you have to feed every hour practically to get a good milk supply going. This will take about 8 weeks before it's pretty well established. I'm breastfeeding 14 months now! Good luck!! xox kabrlu -
Tuesday, 15 Dec I just went to a BF support group meeting and was told that the herb Phenogreek is great to increase your milk supply and that it's totally safe to take while nursing. A mom in the group was taking it and she said it worked great. I was also told that it takes your body 36 hours to respond to the increase supply demand. So if you feed every hour (while awake of course) then your body will reconize the need to increase the supply and your body will do it within 36 hours. Not sure about the rice cereal. Good luck!! Tuesday, 15 Dec i personally think that it is far to early to introduce any cereal to her diet..what did your health visitor say?..they tell us to wait till there 6months old before introducing baby rice or cereal..and I don't know about formular..(I have never used it..)..or the vitamins either..but I do know that the best way to get your milk supplie up is by feeding her more on the breast..breastfeeding is a supplie and demand...the more they demand..the more you will produce..You will be producing more than 2oz because when you pump..it doesn't get the whole lot of the milk out like a baby can..so it's not totally acurate..so I would suggest trying to pump more or letting your baby feed more off you to get your milk supply up..and just waiting a little while before introducing the cereal..maybe give her more formula if she's hungry..or even better more breast milk..hope that helps..just remember to eat well and drink plenty..that keeps your supply up too..take care..Xx
