12-6-2008 - my labour day

well everyone.....im now a mommy!!what an amazing experience,most painful to but its the best feeling in the world.I gave birth to Addison on Friday 9th May@ 9:17pm weighing 6lb 3oz.i had a very hard labour i think,i was in slow labour wednesday @ 5am but it was very very painful,contractions were so strong they hurt that much i had to go upto the hospital to be seen,i was only 1.5cm dilated though so had to go home and suffer!I contiinued to go through tis until friday,when i got admitted to hospital to be induced.At around 4pm they broke my waters 4 me on delivery suite,straight after that they gave me a syntocinon drip.They told me just breaking my waters would not be enough,and a very slow process,so about 10-20 minutes after having this drip owh my gosh full blown contractions were here!!They were the most painful thing i have ever felt in my life!!They started to get reallystrong!It eventually went into my back really bad,my legs went numb to!Eventually i had to give in and ask for pain relief,i had pethadine!!Owh my gosh!!That drug works wonders!!Dont get me wrong i still had the pain but not for long and with that i had gas and air!!I was on cloud nine!!They turned my syntocinon drip up to 6mg per hour,i dilated so quick,i can not believe how quick it all went!I just remember getting to the stage where i coud feel the baby was there and i was ready to push,so i did,i got told to stop pushing but i couldnt at all,the midwife checked to see how far dilated i actually was and as soon as she did there was the head ready to come out,so she called the other midwifes to come in,thats when they told me i can start pushing,well from then on it was a bit of a blur because i was high as a kite on pethadine and gas and air,i just remember the feeling of needing to push every 2 minutes!I was pushing so hard but hse just would not come out!!So...i had to be cut,not the nicest of things to have done but i didnt really take much notice,as i was pushing apparently the babys heartbeat had stopped,according to what my partner had said to me and it was true she had got the cord wrapped in her hand and around her leg,so i had to get her out very quickly,1 big last push later here she was...Addison was brought into the world,at 9:17pm.She was placed onto my stomach,she was beautiful,the biggest blue eyes ive ever seen!Id fell in love with her,she was the best thing that had ever happened to me,my partner was so happy to.My mom was also at the birth of her grand daughter and she loved it to.It was worth ever painful second,as much as it hurt me,id never change a thing,the moment she entered this world was the bestest day of my life ever!
