18-8-2009 - Diaphragmatic Hernia

My mood while writing this blog: Hopeful

On 8/11/09, we had another ultrasound and my baby boy was diagnosed with a Diaphragmatic Hernia. This is the reason that his heart is being "pushed" to the right side of his chest. I'm thankful that we finally have a diagnosis and that it's treatable. He will need surgery to close up the hole in his diaphragm once he's born, most likely 2-3 days old once they see how his lungs are doing. We met with the Pediatric Surgeon yesterday and we like him very much. He is very kind and knowledgable on this particular issue and procedure. He seems to be very optimistic but will only know more as time goes on and my little man continues to grow. I know I have a little fighter inside me already though so I know he will be just fine. All I can do is pray and keep a positive attitiude...the rest is up to God. I believe God never gives us anything we can't handle and honestly with the year I've had so far, I feel like I could take on the world right now so bring it on! This has definitely been a year of growth, challenges & life tests for me that have only made me a stronger person and has renewed my faith in God. I believe He is just preparing me to be the best Mother that I can absolutely be and for that I am thankful.
