Hopeful

9/22/09 - Update

So my doctors decided it would be best to have me deliver @ a hospital that has an ECMO machine, which is a breathing machine. Not all babies born with a Diaphragmatic Hernia require this machine (60% do) but better to be safe than sorry. I agreed of course! So I had my 1st appt there on Tuesday and I was SO PLEASED!! I could really tell they want what's best for both me & the baby. There was a team of doctors in the room during my ultrasound which was great! They told me that his right lung is really well developed which was a HUGE relief to hear! They got a ratio # by taking his head measurement & lung measurement which they want to see as atleast 1.7 and my son's came out to 3. something!! ...I don't remember what the the 2nd #was cuz I was just SO excited just to hear it was way over 1.7!!! LOL They also measured his abdomen, which can sometimes measure small because of the lack of stomach and intestines and my son's was measuring normal :) They also estimated his weight to be 4lbs 13oz which puts him in the 90% percentile and said that was wonderful!! So I got ALOT of positive feedback on my little man's progress and I am SO relieved!!!
