| 13-10-2008 - My birth Story! 36wks | My mood while writing this blog:excited |
I couldn't have been more right!! The shots kept him in just long enough!!
It all started with my appointment Wednesday the 8th. I went in and they did an ultrasound and found I had NO amnio fluid! When just the week before it was perfect! The doctors were concerned and I never felt my waters break so they checked me and I was 3cm. So they decided that it was time!! At 11:30 I called hubby and told him to make his way to the hospital (my bestfriend to) and they wheeled me over to the Labor and Delivery. I must say I was nervous. I was only 36wks 3days but I knew that he was 5lbs 2oz from the ultrasound and that helped settle my mind a little. I got checked in and in the bed by 12 and the doctor came in to break my bag, or what was left of it...nothing much came out but it was clear, thank goodness. I was contracting on my own but not regularly so they gave me my epideral (which took 3 times!! OMG my back is soooo sore) and then they started me on the lowest possible dosage of pitocin. By about 2:45 I was in major pain (which means I get very very quiet and breath as best as possible) but my contractions were off the chart. The nurse was great and called the doctor and they gave me a shot in my epideral (not sure what is was but they said it was stronger). It took within minutes and I felt great! But then about 10 minutes later my blood pressure dropped to about 94/44 and they were worried. Then they lost the baby's heartbeat...the nurse and doctors ran in with the sounds of alarms. Hubby and bestfriend looked scared to death...they gave me oxygen and rolled me over, and thats when they noticed, they couldnt find his heartbeat b/c he was coming out! I never even felt the pressure I was so numb! From the time the alarms went off to my 2 pushes he was born. It could have only been minutes! They moved so fast it was amazing! He was born at 3:38pm, 5lbs 9oz, 18" long and looked great! I got to hold him for a little while and I noticed he was grunting so they took him to the NICU. He ended up on CPAP for a day and IV fluids. But he pulled thru just fine. I went home Friday and he came home Saturday. He is doing great and is eating every 3 hours or so. I can't believe how awake he is in the mornings and is the sweetest little bitty thing. I must say, it was worth all the bedrest, therapy and shots but he will be our last. We named him Jesse James.
