17-10-2008 - I lost my job!!!!

My mood while writing this blog:

I received a letter stating that since I was on disability for over 12 weeks that the FMLA says my job protection is over and they are interviewing for my position! They actually put my job in the paper when I was still in the hospital! It took me a day to get over all the emotions of course. Now I guess I have no choice to but to pick my head up and move on. I can't believe the timing. My hubby said that if he made enough I could stay home but right now that isnt an option b/c I worked to pay my car payment and insurance. And there is no way that he can pay those bills and our rent etc. I had no idea that my job would do this to me. I assumed that I had somewhere to go. I had planned on looking for another job when I went back to work b/c the drive was just going to be too much for me. I guess God had other options for me. Hopefully I will be able to see them when present with them b/c right now it's so hard to imagine this is a good thing. I still can't believe how supportive my hubby was about it yesterday. I don't know how I am going to look for a job that I can't start till the beginning of December. Employers are going to over look me b/c I can't start right away. I wish I knew what to do.

That's really sad they would do that to you considering the complications, etc. My employer has done this to others who were on medical for other reasons, but they gave them over 6 months before they actually posted their position and they were also notified 4 weeks in advance that if they couldn't/wouldn't come back that their position was being posted

It is sad that they can do that. It is the first time I have heard of a company actually doing it that though. Doesn't sound like a very good company to work for anyways if they are like that. I am sure that it is a blessing in disguise. Sorry to hear it though. My mother's company is closing the doors so she will be without a job after working there for 20 years! I know from talking with my mom some of the emotions you are going through.

They can do that??? I've been on disability since Aug. 18th but I've not heard one word about me losing my position! What about maternity leave and what not? How could they do that to you, considering what you're going through? I am sooo sorry to hear this hun! I'll be praying for you and hopefully something will come your way.
