08-2-2010 - Pregnancy #5 ER Scare unsureMy mood while writing this blog:
unsure

OK Ladies so I will start at the very beginning for those who didn’t follow everything on the TTCAL forum. I got my BFP yesterday at 10DPO. DH and I went to bed around 10pm, then he had to go to work from midnight to 4am. At 4am we bded… not rough but not exactly soft either. We went back to bed afterwards… I just put a towel between my legs and fell asleep. I woke at 7 took my temp and got up and POAS which was a BFP. Then I noticed the blood on the towel and I checked my CP and found some brown blood. I took my metformin and waited for the clinic to open and I called them and woke DH. The clinic told me to go to the ER.

So we get to the er (of course the girl behind the counter cracks some stupid inapropriate miscarriage joke) I got checked in, we waited, we went back, I got undressed, we waited, we waited for what seemed like an eternity and a few nurses and corpsmen and interns came in and all asked the same questions and then finally the dr came in and said he wanted to do a pelvic exam and an ultrasound and bloodwork. So first the pelvic where I was told that my cervix was long and closed then they did the ultrasound and everything got scarey. Because the ER drs arent really Obs or radiologists they arent really good at decifering ulrasounds anyway but all they said was that they didn’t see anything really in my uterus but there was loose fluid around the uterus and ovaries. The kept throwing words around like “possible ectopic” and “blood transfussions” so after the ultrasound they put in two Ivs. On for fluids and one for blood if needed. They pulled my beta hcg and blood types and whole blood counts and stuff and sent me through to radiology to have a formal ultrasound. The techs arent supposed to say anything but I kinda got a few things out of her. I learned that I ovulated from my left ovary (like I thought) and that “most” of the fluid was around my right ovary where she susspected I may have had a ruptured cyst. She didn’t say anything about a sac or anything but she wouldn’t have seen one anyway… I am only 4 weeks.

After the ultrasound the left me in the hallway right infront of the ultrasound room and a bunch of happy couples with their ultrasound pics walked by and I sobbed all alone (they wouldn’t let Brian come with me there) and so sure that everything was over. I could hear the radiologist talking over the phone to the er drs and he kept saying “too early” “gestational sac” “not ectopic” “follow up with second beta hcg”. Then I went back to the ER and after a while they came in to talk to me. He said the same things that I heard the radiologist say. Right now they know I am pregnant but as of right now it is not in my tube and its to early to see if its in my uterus. He didn’t say it but from what I gather the bleeding I experienced today is most likely from the ruptured cyst. They took out my IV’s and sent me on my way.

Brian and I went straight up to the fertility clinic to see if we could get the progesterone prescription. On the way to the reception I ran into Dr Shapiro (he actaully recognized me, wow!) and told him what was going on. He was on his way out of the office, he had to unlock his office door and everything. He looked up the stuff in the computer and said the number was 79 and then Brian got a phone call and left the office for a second, the second right when dr shapiro said that 79 is a perfect number and that he would be giving me the progesterone… both of which made me cry! I was just overcome with happiness. After a day full of scariness and impersonal drs finally there was this one who with out needing arguing or repetative questions. Brian came back in thinking that something bad happened when really they were tears of joy. Dr Shapiro seems to be pretty confident that everyting is going as it should. He put in my prescription and put in another hcg test for Wednesday and then they game me an appointment for an ultrasound for next Tuesday.

So 8 hours later, we are home (I have my suppository in and good to go right now) and we are exhausted. So far all we know that yes, we are pregnant and if I hadnt had this bleeding everything would be completely normal. So hopefully Wednesday my numbers will be doubled… actually Dr Shapiro said anything over 100 is good. He said that at 13DPO what he seems to find is a number around or above 100 so 79 today is good. So I need you to keep the prayers coming guys. We are not out of the woods yet so wish me luck, send me good vibes and such.

Thank you all so much for being here for me today in my sadness and then fear. I could not have made it through without you guys today. All your posts and private messages were so supportive and possitive and I thank you all for that. Love you guys!

I'm so happy everything is good so far!! And with the bleeding, don't worry too much about spotting(I know that's impossible though heh). I bled off and on with all of my pregnancies(the bad ones and the good one) in the beginning up until about 14 weeks I think. Once the placenta finally established itself. Some people just bleed! I know it doesn't help with the worry, but bleeding doesn't always mean something bad. *hugs* I will keep checking in on you. Good luck and I hope this is the one!!!!

I am so happy to hear you had a BFP! I knew you would! I am praying this one sticks- I just want you to have full arms and a full heart. Keep trusting God- he know your pain and your heart's desire. I don't know why you've had to go through all this, but there must be a reason. We'll know someday....

MrsMommy2 - Monday, 8 Feb
Congrats on the pregnancy! Also, I have had cysts my whole life and yes they do cause bleeding so that very well could be the problem. I also have had a possible ectopic pregnancy and I didn't bleed at all from that until I was further along about (6-9 weeks) so I don't think its an ectopic. Good Luck hun i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and sending you TONS of sticky baby dust!

JLea - Monday, 8 Feb

So glad for the updated, N! Have not been able to get you and Sticky-Bean off my mind. Thanks for letting us know the details. And Holly's right, the girls in PGAL have gone through similar situations. I hope they can encourage you in PG, just like you've encouraged so many of us in TTC journeys! You know I love you, girl. And I'm still praying. :)

BabySaunders - Monday, 8 Feb
Well first I'd like to say CONGRATS! I hadn't heard the news of the BFP :) Much faster than I was expecting! That metaformin is awesome! :) Second I'd like you to know that at the beginning of this pregnancy I had a similar situation. I BDed with hubby and right after there was a TON of blood. I wrote a blog about it. I was pretty sure I had lost the baby. Well here I am 3 days away from my due date. You'll be just fine momma! Can't wait to continue reading about this pregnancy. :) (P.S. I also had spotting every few weeks up until I was about 13 weeks so don't be too scared if you're spotting later on).
