23-7-2008 - Hospital Update Hot!My mood while writing this blog:
Hot!

Well, I think I can finally give an update of what happened at the hospital on Monday. With an extremely full bladder I went for my scan. You could see the gestational sack, and the yolk (?), but nothing else. Then the Doctor found another 2 marks in the same area. He asked if he could do an internal scan, but first let me go to the loo! It didn't hurt - even though I was now really tense as I wanted to know what the other shadows were. He has confirmed that I have a functional cyst on one ovary, and this is perfectly normal, and there is another possible cyst on my right ovary, but he's not sure. They have booked me in for another scan next wednesday, and they are hoping to see the baby's heartbeat, and they are hoping that both of the cysts have shrunk. So I'm still in limbo, the only good news is that the sac is in the uterus. I've been really upset since and I was so dissapointed I couldn't see a baby's heartbeat, especially when you read on the 6 week comments that other new mums to be have seen their baby's heartbeat on the ultrasound. I'm still having lots of pregnancy symptoms, like the nausea (I've been up since 4am this morning with my head down the toilet convinced I was actually going to throw, but I didn't), extreme fatigue, I get to about 2pm and all I want to do is lie down, and my boobs are like 10 stone rocks that are agony to touch! I'm contipated, and suffering with indegestion and heartburn but admist all of that the only real downfall of pregnancy for me is the weight gain. I have gained 1.5lbs so far, but that's because I'm 'grazing' all day to stop the nausea! I started weight watchers in Jan, and reached goal 5 weeks ago which was a loss of 32lbs. I just knew it would be sods law that I would get pregnant! Mind you, I'm not knocking it, we've been trying for 18 months, so I'm all smiles!

Oh, and one last thing - Day 7 on the no smoking front! I can't believe I have got this far! Keep well everyone xxx

Just wanted to say, that at my six/seven week ultrasound, they saw only a gestational sac and yolk sac...I was worried, but when I went back a week later, there was a little beating heart! It is quite common to not see a hb that early. Good luck! I am 23 weeks now, it goes by fast!
