30-3-2009 - Quitting Work

My mood while writing this blog: Excited/Nervous

Sooo... I have been having quite a few problems at work. My boss (Dessa) is and has been quite rude throughout my year and 2 months working as her office manager. I am constantly trying to go above and beyond my responsibilities, but it's never good enough. So last week was the final straw. I was getting out of my car and as soon as my foot hit the ground it slipped out from under me and on my way down I hit my butt on the running board, and then tried to catch myself before I hit the ground but then hit my ARM on the running board. I have been getting headaches (which I have talked to my doctor about) and obviously after that fall, my head was POUNDING!

My boss called and proceeded to tell me that I needed to keep her organized so that SHE wouldn't be so overwhelmed when she came into work. Remind you, she only makes it in once a WEEK if that. So if she wants to be LESS overwhelmed she should come in more-- although I am not complaining she doesn't because it makes my day HORRIBLE when she does. She is honestly bi polar and she sometimes comes in with a great attitude and brings me presents, and sometimes she comes in with a horrible attitude and yells and yells at me. Her Daughter does my hair and has stopped talking to her because of how rude and demeaning she is. Anyway, I got upset and started crying, not because of what she was saying, but because I was overwhelmed and my head was hurting worse than before. Sooo... she was like "well you can go home if you can afford it"... insinuating that I will not get paid for the time I was gone even though the accident happened on HER property. So... I took half of Thursday off, and I don't ever work Friday's so I had a 4 day weekend. My hubby and I had a great time in Jackson Hole, WY watching one of our friends do Freestyle snomobiling, and I was trying to enjoy myself... but the ONLY thing I could think of was how horrible work was and how I didn't want to go back.

We don't NEED my paycheck, but by all means it helps! And I didn't want to just sit at home for the remainder of my pregnancy... so I talked to my mom about it. She told me that I could do laundry, and cook dinner for them (They are SUPER busy) and she would pay me about the same as I was being paid at my work. It was like a weight lifted off my shoulders.

So here I am at work, waiting for Dessa to come in so that I can quit. I am kind of nervous, but I know this is the best thing for me and by baby. It is not good to be this stressed during my pregnancy, and I am by far picking this baby over several more months of work! So I will be able to go and hang out with my sister and niece at my moms (where my sister lives) and just do a few things up at their house! Any ideas of what to say to my boss!?! AHHHHHH

Awwww, hope everything worked out ok yesterday. What happenend? This sounds like such a great thing that your mom is willing to have you help them out and pay you :-) Glad to hear its working out. And you definently don't need that kind of stress. Take care of yourself!

Oh my that sounds so exciting! My boss is bipolar as well...except I work for a guy at a small ins company he owns, so there is no corporate anything here. He is nuts some days, but so giving and thoughtful others. So I def envy you at this moment! COngrats and good luck. I'd be nice when you quit tho, don't want to cut ties. GOod luck!

Good for you!! It sounds like you have a strong back bone and you are not afraid to use it. Good for you. I am so happy for you. You should never have to put up with that kind of stress, pregnant or not. Just watch, something even better may fall into your lap! Take care of yourself. Chrissi-

Well I know a few choice words I would want to say but best to be dignified about it. At least you can leave and also have another job to go into. I would love to leave but I need the maternity and the benefits for maternity leave but I won't be going back thankfully so sick of commuting adds an extra 10 tens hours a week!!
