07-5-2009 - Name Problems--

My mood while writing this blog:
Annoyed

Gosh! I am super annoyed with this whole name situation. Here's the story--

I really like Brynlee but I wanted to name our baby after my mom and have her middle name Jean no matter what! If I name her Brynlee I couldn't use Jean because her initials would be BJJ which sound like VaJayJay. So if I name her Brynlee she won't be able to be named after my mom. Not to mention her initials would be BJ no matter what seeing that our last name is Johnson!

I like Devree, but I don't know if it's too boyish and I am not 100 percent sold on it.

SOOO... The other day I was thinking...."Tylie" would be a cute name! I told one of my friends a while back (who is now pregnant) that I liked it but I wasn't sure on that name either. WELL, I talked to her YESTERDAY and she was saying that her and her hubby had talked about the name quite a bit and if they have a girl they are for sure naming her Tylie.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

So now the more I think of the name, the more I like it. I have always liked it but now I feel like I can't name my daughter that because of my friend. Even though that was a name I thought of first. When we were talking that wasn't one of the final names that I thought I wanted, but I did think of it a while back and TOLD HER about it.

So what do I do now!? I talked to my SIL and she told me that I thought of the name first, she is not in the family so if both were named that it doesn't matter, and that it's not fair for her to claim the name when I am having a girl and thought of the name! But for some reason I would feel like I am stealing the name from her? HELP LADIES... I have no idea what to do!

This is why I I don't discuss names with other people. I had a situation where a girl I know was trying to discuss baby names with me and told me I should call my baby Eoin if its a boy but then I found out that she thought of that name as she had been discussung it with a pregnant friend who was going to call her baby Eoin. I didn't want the name anyway but it just goes to show you have to be careful when discussing (if at all ) baby names!!

Yuck! I was kinda in the situation you are in, but worse...it happened with a family member! I wanted to name my son Carter, but my hubby wanted Masen. We even told both families to kind of get a vote, well in the end it was even, but I gave in bc he wasn't budging. So I said (aloud to all) if the next one is a boy I'm naming him Carter for sure! Well my cuz and his wife got prego and they named their son Carter....so there goes MY name that I LOVED!!!!!! Lesson learned, donot share names with people that are prego lol. But I agree, you picked it first, doesn't matter if you weren't 100% on it yet...just tell your friend the more ya'll discuss it the more you love it, and now Brynlee doesnt' work out! GOod luck

wow what a sticky situation, if you have your baby before her then I would claim the name. talk to your friend about how you feel. hope you guys come to some kind of agreement
