| 09-8-2008 - Ella's birth day | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
I honestly felt like i was in labor for days. I had light contractions thursday night-friday morning. I woke my husband up Friday morning at 1:45am and told him the MW said to come in and get checked out since my little contractions were now getting stronger and not subsiding with a warm bath or fluids. So we called my mother in law to come and hang out at our home for our two older boys and off to L&D we went. We arrived around 3:30 am and i was only 2 cm dilated so she said we could go do some walking and come back in an hour to see if we progressed. Ella was in a little of a pickle of a position so her head was giving me some back pain. The Mid wife said to try the stairs skipping a step with my right leg to help turn her a little. So hubby and i were going up and down stairs at the hospital for a good forty five min. As soon as we stopped the stairs my contractions seemed to get harder. So when i was checked i was 3cm and 80% effaced. I tested Group b positive so since i was in "early labor" they admitted us and started the antibiotics. A few hours went by with good contractions but when i was checked again at 9:30 am there had been no progress. Then all of the sudden my contractions stopped at 10. so after some nipple stimulation (to see if we could get things going again) and rest we were sent home at 1pm and told to get some rest. My hubby was disappointed as well as i was. We thought we were going to meet our little one and we had to go home insted. The funny part is however my contractions started up again Saturday afternoon around 2:30. Instead of rushing to L & D this time we hung out at home. I thought to myself this is it. I did some cleaning. ate some..made a smoothie and called my mother for a heads up that we would need her to hang out with our boys. Around 6:30 pm contractions started to get stronger and low and be hold i had some bloody show. So we arrived at the hospital at 8:15. The 30 min car ride was pretty difficult for my boys who are 3 and 5. i wasn't trying to show them i was in any pain but they knew. When i was checked at 830 i was 4-5 cm and completely thind out. We were once again admitted and once again they started the antibiotics. i tried some walking around the halls and then hit the tub. i was checked at 11pm and was only 5cm......but then my water broke. i was on the birthing ball for a good 30 min with my husband beside me and the nurse kinda just sitting there with us. we had the Christmas lights on and some Norah Jones in the background. i had a really hard contraction with my thoughts thinking it cant get any worse then this and low and then outta no where i looked at my hubby and said "i'm pushing!" I crawled up on the bed and on all fours pushed my baby out. She was born at 11:43. I can not explain the feeling of her leaving my body. it was a "omg" moment. i turned around and had my baby on me for a good 20min before the cord stopped pulsating. She nursed pretty well actually like a little barracuda (lol...strong suck in other words). It was hard after the hour i had her little body on me to give her to my husband. I didnt wanna share her just yet. I could see the excitement in his eyes however and knew he had waited just as long as i had to meet her....plus... i did wanna wash up. They weighed her at 7lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long. My mother in law came in with my sister in law a little over an hour after she was born. I felt pretty good for just giving birth and was completely overjoyed with how smoothly things had gone. I'm a mama now to three kids two boys and one girl......Ella was my second natural delivery and i must say this time was a little easier then the first. Now if i could just get over this sore breast stage........
