09-11-2009 - Update on Raelee

My mood while writing this blog: accomplished

Weight at birth 4lbs 11.5ozs

It seems like all we do is spend time at the doctors lately. Last monday we had our first appointment and Raelee weighed 4lbs 9ozs. Then we had an appointment last thursday and she weighed 4lbs 13ozs. Well, we went today and when the nurse weighed her it said 4lbs 13ozs again.....I got really discouraged because this whole time I have keep questioning myself about the whole breastfeeding thing (I am breastfeeding). I was not sure if she was eating enough and this and that. Well, the doctor came in and said "I find that so hard to believe because Raelee is "filling out" nicely." She asked me if it was time to nurse her. She said to nurse her and then we will weigh her. So I nursed and then while I was doing so, the doctor came in and said "the cleaning lady must of knocked our scales off." with those words spoken, I felt 1000 pounds lifted off my chest. She said they are fixed now so lets go weigh her. Well.............little Miss Raelee now weighs 5lbs 9ozs! Almost 1 WHOLE pound in 3days! YAY! My husband and I looked at each other had this big sigh of relief! I just thought I would share our WONDERFUL news with all of you ladies......Have a great day and take care! God Bless!

Thats wonderful that she's gaining weight so rapidly! Stories like this are such inspiration and I really need it these days. I'm planning on breastfeeding Sophia when she's born. I'm not sure if I'll be able to nurse at first due to her IUGR, being premie, and other conditions but if not I plan on pumping. Best of luck to you and your daughter!!
