| 31-10-2008 - Sharp Pain in Lower Abdomen |
My mood while writing this blog: Ok |
Off an on for the past month or so I get these extremly sharp pains on the left side o my abdomen that come and go but only last a total of 5 minutes and then are gone completely for another week or so...the pain is so sharp that i think for a moment it is contractions, as it comes and goes for the 5 minutes....has anyone else experienced pain like this?

Saturday, 1 Nov I've had the same thing!!!! I'm in week 19 and the pains are off and on and have been for a few days...I have heard of plenty of other mommies saying that they have the same thing and ask their doc and the doc says its ok so I haven't worried about it too much! It does hurt though!!! I go for my U/S on Wed to find out what I am having and I will be sure to ask but I'm sure it's normal since sooo many other mommies have had the same thing....I wouldn't worry about it :) jacks -
Saturday, 1 Nov it could be pulling of the round ligament that supports your uterus. they say if you stretch too much it can happen and cause pain for a few minutes, but it could also happen just by the natural stretching of the round ligament as your uterus grows. i would still talk to your doc about it and see what the docs says. xO-BRiANNA -
Friday, 31 Oct I get these pains, but I have kidney stones so when I'm passing one I get that pain..
I also get them that aren't kidney stones, I asked my friends mom who used to be a nurse in prenatal care & she said it's either stretching, braxton hicks or the position of the baby pushing on something thats causing me to cramp up. preggiebelly -
Friday, 31 Oct It's either stretching or braxton hicks contractions. I've started having braxton hicks contractions in the past couple of weeks and they're on both sides. They last about 1-2 minutes a piece and I'll sometimes have 2-3 a day.
They're nothing to be over worried about.... just your body preparing for labor. :) Julianna -
Friday, 31 Oct if it is on one side only, it is unlikely it is contractions. It is probably ligaments stretching. If you move the wrong way it will likely be painful. it is common but talk to your doctor about it too.
