My mood while writing this blog: Happy |
Ok, After 17 year's of officially being a mom, I had the best Mother's Day ever! (Other than the year John was born, since that year Mother's Day fell on the day after he was born as well:) I went to church early and then went to brunch with my sister-in -law. When I get home, Charleston had cleaned the entire house including all laundry (even comforters!) I was blown away as I was only gone for a few hours. I went to lay down and take a nap and he and John went out to do some grocery shopping. When they returned, They had groceries but they had bought roses and cards for me. I felt sooo special. They had even bought an Ipod nano for me to have music to listen to while I'm in the hospital after I deliver Jordan (how sweet are my men!). At that point, I was so happy and I thought that they had more than fulfilled their father/son duties for me on Mother's day, but they still made a crabcakes and catfish dinner with fruit salad and chopped salad (all of my favorites) Can I tell you? I love them both so much! They really hooked me up and after such a great day, my hubby still cleaned the kitchen and all of the mess from dinner. I know this is sooo cheesy but I don't care, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world!

Thursday, 15 May I LOVE the "cheese"!!!! And I do agree with only ONE teeny little alteration: You are ONE of the luckiest women in the world!!! LOL!!!
My Mother's Day story went like this: Saturday morning we had a big family breakfast at Cracker Barrel (San Antonio, remember?) with all my LEAST favorite foods!! Greasy eggs, greasy salty bacon, white bread with white coating that they referred to as "french toast" - whatever! But the real strawberry topping was really delightful. While we were waiting to be seated, we wandered around the store. Are you familiar with that?
Anyway. My Dear Tom (who, after being single 20 + years has very little confidence in his gift-giving ability!) pulled me over to a Susan Lordi display -- you know those sleek, faceless, artistic, almost haunting sculptures that she does to celebrate every event in life? Then they are mass produced in China? We happily received TWO of them for wedding presents (different ones, thank goodness!) and then a friend sent me one, and then another friend gave me one. Now, I am NOT a collector! Of ANYthing!!! (Ok, MAYBE fabric, but I USE that up eventually so it doesn't really count! :) So, he pulls me over to the Susan counter, picks up a sweet mother and baby scupture mold and says, "Honey, look at this" very sweetly. I put my hands up in the air and say (with my usual emphasis!) "That is nice, but I DON'T want it! We already have FOUR of these things and I will NOT collect them!!!!" and walk away!
You see the end coming don't you?
WHILE I was saying this, he had someone WRAPPING one just like it!!!!! He went ahead and gave it to me the next day, a little meekly but with good humor. When I opened it I just laughed and laughed! So, now we have FIVE and I told my onery family, who saw ALL of this, not to even THINK about it!! I WILL throw them away!!!!!!!!
(You have to know my family! They really will buy them just to WATCH me!!!!!! We are all very close and a little onery... )
But it was a beautiful day ~ to be so loved is a beautiful gift!!! I am so happy that you possess it too!! :)
