| 03-7-2008 - C-Section vs Vaginal delivery... | My mood while writing this blog:Confused... |
So I had my 36 week appointments today. I had a u/s this morning and the OBGYN this afternoon and Jordan is weighing in at 7.4 pounds! What a chunky monkey?!!! I have gained a total of 17 pounds so far. The pernatalogist basically said that Jordan is head down and has moved totally clear of the fibroids. He then talked about the fact that with a C-Section you run the risk of excessive bleeding because where the incision will be made there is a small fibroid. So then I start to freak out because I had already made up my mind that I will go with the C-Section and now we are back to making a decision about do we wait for natural labor and try for a vaginal delivery. I hate those types of decisions! So I go see my OBGYN an hour later who had already spoke to the Peranotolgist and she is on the fence with this as well. She knew my history with John being a big baby weighing 8.5 at birth and the fact that I had been in labor for 26 hours and never dialated more than 4 centimeters. So now she suggest that we keep the C-section as scheduled and continue to monitor my cervix over the next 3 weeks and if I go into labor or begin to dialate the I can make the decision of the VBAC. Aren't they suppose to make that decision for you? Lord, thank God for medicine in the free world but dang, I have never been to medical school so not sure the decision should rest with little old me! She checked today and I had not dialated at all and my cervix were slightly thinned but nothing to write home about and Jordan's head is still very high. She eventually said that in her mind, I will probably have the same situation as I did with John but if I'm willing to try a VBAC she said there is nothing to stop me other than the fact that the outcome could be a C-Section again after hours of labor. Ughhhhh! I liked the control part of the C-Section as I do not have to even think about the unknown of when I would go into labor...that was until Mr. Peranatologist scared the heck out of me for a few minutes with all the possible bleeding issues! Hubby got really nervous about the issues related to me bleeding and the fibroids being in the way also but I think my OBGYN soothed his nerves when she told him how many of these deliveries she'd done and was able to maneuver past even the smallest fibroid. What shall we do then? Well, we pray. Whatever way God wants this baby to get into this world I have released it to him. His will, his way. Meaning, if I should go into labor prior to the scheduled C-Section, I will go with it and have faith that I can handle it. If nothing happens before 7/25/08 at 7:30 AM, then he will be delivered by C-Section as planned. Well that's it for now...
Have a great 4th of July weekend all!!!!
