14-9-2009 - Baby Shower and other exciting news!

So this weekend I had my baby shower and it was a success!! About 25 out of the 35 people that I invited showed up, and I got SO much stuff!!! My lil girl has clothes up to 6-9 months! I have lots of diapers and wipes to last for about 2 months, and I got lots of essentials such as lotion, washcloths, and even a breast pump!! I got about $500 in money and gift cards and I was able to go out yesterday and get the big items, such as the swing, car seat, and stroller. I feel so much better now that everything is taken care of because money is tight and I was a lil worried about how I was going to be able to pay for everything!!! I only had to spend about $40 of my own money to cover everything (and I do mean everything...from pacifiers to bottles to socks!). Now I just have to wash everything and get her room situated!

About the baby....she is doing great! She is still measuring small but she is showing growth so doc isn't worried. I actually found out that my mom and grandmother both had ALL small children...like 5-6 lbs, so I'm assuming that small babies run in the family?? She is measuring about 2 weeks behind according to my last ultrasound a few weeks ago, but they say 2 weeks in either direction is okay. Her "o" is still measuring small...so small that the u/s tech couldn't find it!! I start bi-weekly (or weekly??) non-stress tests this week also to make sure she is doing fine. I actually love getting all these extra doctor appointments and u/s's!! I have SO many u/s pictures that it's ridiculus!

About me....I just got hired full time at my job as of Sept. 1st!!! The pay isn't all that great, but I get benefits and 6 weeks paid maternity leave so I can't complain! I had been part time there since 2005 and could never work full time because I was still in school. Just my luck a full time position opened up and I got it!! I got my masters degree this past May so I'm sure I will find a better paying job after she gets here. I have been feeling well except for extreme fatigue and heartburn, but daily naps and Tums have been a lifesaver! My weight gain has been slow and steady, about 1 lb a week. I'm guessing that I will end up with a 40 lb gain overall at the most (:o) It sucks but I have lost 45 lbs in the past so I know I can do it again!! I'm still working out, although i'm finding it harder and harder to keep up the motivation that I had at the beginning since I'm always so tired!!

Well thats it for now ladies. I hope everyone is enjoying these last few weeks!! Our lil bundles of joy will be here in NO TIME!!!!!!!!!

So glad that your baby shower went well and you got lots of essentials and extra cash. I know the extra money we got was so helpful to buy all the odds and ends that are needed that can add up fast. So were the woman in your family nice and come to your shower? I remember a while back they weren't very supportive of you and this baby. It wont be long now- I am so happy the little girl is doing so well. Baby's come in all sizes, so yea I wouldn't worry about her being tiny, you'll probably wish that she would stay that size... hehe!
