My mood while writing this blog: Relieved |
In Jenny McCarthy's book
Belly Laughs--which was a quick-read and poorly written, nevertheless humorous--she writes about passing stonehenge ... a.k.a. constipation. My doctor put my on Colace, a stool softener because I have three strikes against me: I'm pregnant, I'm on prenatal vitamins, and I'm on iron tablets. That, surely, spells constipation!
Well, ladies, I am lucky, and grateful, to say that this is not so! I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), which, for me, has always been characterized by a strong, sudden, random urge to use the bathroom and go poopie, but the opposite of constipation. Ah, things have not changed. Pregnancy has nothing on my IBS! It's kind of nice ... constipation leads to hemroids, and I hear those are uncomfortable / painful.
Anyway, for those of you that couldn't get past my brief review on McCarthy's book, I'll let you know that she essentially paints pregnancy as an ugly thing that makes you fat and disgusting. I couldn't agree with a lot of things, such as worrying about having to let go of sexy, thong underwear. Still, I like her sense of humor; I've followed her since her dating-show days. Her book was ok. Half-half. A three out of six stars or something. It did get tiring after so many pages of words in CAPS, overly colloquial writing, and a saturation of her sense of humor, but, in the end, she explores things women never openly talk about for fear of it being considering WTMI (Way Too Much Information). Get it; it's a quick, easy read, but I don't know if it's worth $13. Get it on EBay or Amazon or something ... you know, a used copy.
