Thursday, 2 Jul Well I don't know how expensive things are in England but look on the bright side- at least you don't have to pay so much money everytime you see a doctor and you don't have to worry about paying for your birth! I am trying not to worry about all the money I am spending on doctors and am trying to save up money to give birth in a hospital!!! England is still a great place to have children. In South Africa you pay for everything even schools... Just cut down on buying expensive baby goodies and only buy as you need them. Some women buy so much stuff they never use! xmelx88x -
Tuesday, 30 Jun Im in the same boat as you! Maternity pay sucks!!! Have u had the form for £190 health during pregnancy graunt yet? If not ask ur midwife. This should boost u up a little. I think you get it when you are 25 weeks.

Monday, 29 Jun awww that would stress me out too but I live in Canada and we get 1 year Mat leave 75% or 85% pay I can't remember. I am sure everything will work itself out...you could always find a way to make some extra cash without working. foxitiger76 (Jill) -
Monday, 29 Jun Me too!!! I can only take 8 weeks off for the c-section...I'm thinking about returning after 6 weeks if I feel okay. I'm the bread winner of the family and I have no paid time off. All I can do is get Temporary Disability and that's only 1/2 my income. My BF tells me not to stress but...we just can't make it without my income. SPUDinTHEoven (Tina) -
Monday, 29 Jun At least your getting pay while you're off for maternity leave. I'm screwed, we can take up to 3 months off, which I plan on taking, but it's unpaid. I had 1 paid week of vacation, but used it up in Feb before I found out I was preggo :( Luckily my husband will be working, but he doesn't make enough to cover all of our bills, so it will be very stressfull time!!! expecting-2b-patient (Cheryl) -
Monday, 29 Jun This can be a tough time! I'm taking 6 months off and it's all unpaid! I've been thinking I need to save so we have more money in our saving account, but it's difficult when all I want to do is shop for the baby! You will get through it! Just think of us in The States, we don't get any assistance from the government! andy21 -
Monday, 29 Jun i understand where you are coming from... money is always stressful (unless you have tons of it lol) just try not to worry too much and think of ways you can work things out. it'll be okay =] baby bake oven -
Monday, 29 Jun I am feeling the same way right now... I am getting 12 weeks off, but all is unpaid... I don't know how we're going to manage. Somehow we will all get through this though.
