10-3-2009 - blood in her stool nervousMy mood while writing this blog:
nervous

wow, at this point I'm feeling like "if it's not one thing it's another"!!! So my baby turned 2 months yesterday!! She is sooo cute and smart, but VERY high maintenance lol. She gets bored easily (by easily I mean like within 5-10 minutes). So she can only be "sitting still" for that amount of time before she needs to be stimulated in different way - whether that be walking her around, changing her position, putting her in her bouncy seat, putting something different in front of her to look at, etc. etc. She is also very "wiggley" by that I mean she is always moving her arms, legs, body. I think I'm diagnosing this kid with ADHD at 2 months and am going to look into getting her meds!!! Do they make infant ADHD meds yet?!?! lol...I'M KIDDING. So she seems to be recovering great from the RSV - yay!!

So those are the good updates, now....my concern at the moment. She had blood in her stool one morning and I freaked out!! Of course that means something horrible right?? So we took her to the doctor's office and the CNP that we had to see (first available) was getting on my last nerve and we did not like her. So anyway, she said that one diaper is not to worry about and since she is not looking sick (fever, vomit, diarrea, etc. etc.) that we just need to watch her diapers and if it happens again to take her in and save the diaper to bring in. So her diapers were clean for the next about two and then she starting having a little bit in her poop again (2 diapers this happened). I was also reading about this on the internet and one of the symptoms (child looking like she has abdominal pain-picking legs up, crying, etc. etc. when eating or pooping) my child had/has this going on. But I don't know if it is from gas or her GERD she was diagnosed for (which she was on Zantac for and was switched to Pepcid and it works better for her) or what??? So I call the doctors office today and was just frustrated...first I leave a message for a doctor to call me back so I can ask some questions and a "nurse" calls me back (actually I think its just a medical assistant that they call "nurses") ugh!!! so she just looks at the medical notes from my visit yesterday and proceeds to tell me that the CNP suggested that if this happens again to bring her in with her diaper....etc. etc. UUUMMMM yea I already know that!!!! I want to talk to a DOCTOR to ask some questions!!! well anyway there was more conversation in between but to wrap it up I make an appointment for this evening to take her in and I ask that I not see the same CNP that I seen yesterday and she tells me that she can't guarantee that and it depends who "picks up the chart"....what?????? There is like 4 practitioners there!! So I tell her that if I am called back to see that CNP, I am going to request someone else......I just feel that if a patient requests not to see a certain practitioner, they should be given that and not have to ask for a different practitioner when they are already in the room and the one they didn't want to see walks in......anyway, I guess I'm just annoyed and stressed and worried and tired and and and and......

So I'm hoping for the best at our doctors appointment this evening.......

I know that's scary - My son had that - they never really discovered what it was (they thought he may have swallowed some from me bleeding while breastfeeding but that's rubbish - as I didn't have any blood as far as I could see). It never came back and he's perfect so hopefully you'll hear the same.

With the attention thing - it sounds iike she's a normal 2 month old....very very tiring always having to keep them occupied. I know we all have the idea that babies can be content and sit happily for ages but that is not the norm....your LO getting bored quickly is!! But it does get easier eventually - I promise

I am so sorry that one thing after another is happening to your little girl. Hopefully she will get well soon. If you don't like the CNP I would ask to see the dr. or switch to another office you feel comfortable going in and calling. Hope she is doing well now.

That would be scary. Plenty of things to worry about as parents, huh? I do hope you get to see a good CNP, someone different, who is able to help you and put you at ease. Take care!

Hi, my little one had blood in his stool too...our pediatrician said it is caused by a milk protein allergy. We had to switch formulas. She said the blood can be microscopic, as it was in my sons case. Just because you can't see it doesnt mean its not there. I would have them test her stool. AndI hope you get the practicioner you want, I know that can be frustrating!
