My mood while writing this blog: scared |
Well, I did another 3hour glucose test and......I have gestational diabetes =( ugh great! So that is another thing for me to worry about and not to mention the food here in the hospital is hard enough to eat as it is, now I'm on an even more bland diabetec diet. So they are going to monitor me for now, no meds or insulin needed yet thank God. They also did another test yesterday (I forgot the name) it is a swab that detects if something is releasing from the cervix when the cervix is being disrupted and its to further detect if I was to go into preterm labor. So the results of that test were positive - Oh my goodness. My stress level rose as soon as the doctors told me. He told me statistically, women that test positive on this test have a 50/50 chance of going into labor within the next two weeks!!!! All I can think of is that I can't go into labor anytime soon, she doesn't have that great of chances of surviving. My cervix was also checked with a vag u/s and there was a tiny tiny bit of shortening but nothing significant and doc said that was good. I'm still trying to remain positive and hoping and praying for the best. But worry sets in of course.

Friday, 31 Oct You had a FNT test? I had one when i was in hospital. It's scary to to know you MAY go into labor early. BUT not Definate. So try to foucs on the positive and forget about the negitive. It's hard to do, but get a good cry out, and stay focused. Trust me all us are going thru the worrying stages right now. elliel -
Thursday, 30 Oct I know that test result sounds scary but I've been told that they are really testing for the negative result (which is accurate). The positive one is so unrealiable you might as well forget it. Try if there is any way not to think too much about it. So many ladies in my forum have had positives and still gone to term. My dr. hasn't even bothered giving it to me for that exact reason...and he knows that I'm such a worrier the positive result would be detrimental to me. I hope that puts it in perspective.
Good news on your cervix - that sounds very positive.
I hate hate hate all these tests they give us 'high riskers' - they never really help do they. You are doing everything right now to keep little lady cooking for longer and every day you do makes a massive difference. I'm doing that 'week at a time' target thing....so currently my next target is 28 weeks - shall we go for that together?
One final thing - girls are much tougher than boys. All these statistics you read are based on averages but my dr said that early girls do much better than boys (should have known it!) so we are lucky (if that is the right word) that we have tough little ladies.

Thursday, 30 Oct My daughter Angela had that test done several times and just so you know - they said that if it was negative is was very very accurate that you wouldn't go into labor within the next two weeks, but if it was positive it wasmuch less accurate as to whether or not you would go into labor - try not to stress too much - or that will make things worse - and bring on early labor!! Take it easy and hopefully that baby will keep on cooking a long time!!!! Good luck! LIZ82 -

Wednesday, 29 Oct Oh love, I'm sorry to hear your news. I'm so scared for you but you are right, just try to remain positive, you know stress doesn't help any situation. Are you in hospital permanently now then? I hadn't picked up on that, I thought you were at home but on bed rest. I hope you continue for as long as you can to hold on to your baby girl, and wish you both good luck for the future. x
