04-8-2008 - Joeys 1st month!

My mood while writing this blog: laid back

So Joey's first month went really well. All of us adjusted pretty quickly to our new family of 3 and enjoy it a lot. We cannot believe how much love we have this little one and how quicky he changes! He amazes us everyday!

We have a very strong boy, at his 1 week checkup with his pedi he proved this! She put him on his belly to listen to his lungs and he pushed himself up and rolled over! We got a big "oh my, what a strong boy!" from his doctor. He hasn't stopped rolling over since! The first time they handed me our little guy in the hospital, he was lifting his head looking around. Daddy nicknamed him "Bam-Bam" because of it - we are going to have our hands full when he starts crawling and walking. Which everyone says is going to be sooner than later lol! Must have been all that brocoli mom ate while pregnant!

His sleeping pattern was pretty good the first month; he would wake up in 3-4 hour intervals like normal. At first daddy would help, but once he went back to work mom did it all. I didn't mind though, I enjoyed those late night feedings with just my boy and I! And he always falls right back to sleep after feeding, so we're pretty lucky!

We also started getting our first "real" smiles at 4 weeks, which also surprised his pedi! Not the little gas ones, he started to smile at mom when she walked in the room and started to talk to him! It def melted my heart!

At birth he was 8lbs 4.8ozs and 22.2 inches long. When we left the hospital he was 8lbs exactly and then at his 1 week checkup he was 8lbs 4ozs - so his doctor was pleased. At his one month apt he was up to 9lbs 14ozs and 23.5 inches long! He is such a long skinny boy, it is pretty funny!

He only got one shot at 4 weeks, his 2nd round of hep B and boy did he not like that! He had his little lip quivering and was crying - aww it was so sad! I can only imagine at his 2 month checkup, which is tomorrow, what he's going to be like with a whole bunch of shots!!

He is a very happy, laid back little boy. We're pretty lucky!!
