18-10-2008 - Joey's 4th month

My mood while writing this blog: happy

So I should have probably read where I left off earlier but I know I was talking about teething and how miserable Joey has been with it! We went in for his 4 month check up a couple of weeks ago and everything is going great! She did confirm he had 2 buds on the bottom gums and just gave me recommendations to help him out. He isn't as miserable latley, which is nice but he still has his moments! His favorite thing to do is suck on cold or frozen things, so we've been doing that a lot.

His pedi also didn't "scold" me when I told her we already started eating rice and fruit/veges. I was very happy about that (o: Her response was "well we recommend starting between 4-6 months, but some of us like to start earlier. As long as you know to start with a little and gradually increase the amount he is getting, which you are, then that's great." I wanted to hug her lol! He has tried every single fruit and vege from the Gerber stage 1 line, and has liked everything but the prunes on thier own. He loves them when they're mixed with applesauce though! I would say the applesauce is his favorite fruit, and it's a toss between peas and sweet potatoes for veges! He loves to grab the spoon and bring it to his mouth too! And when he sees his bubba, he will reach for it, grab ahold of it, and bring it to his mouth. It is all so cute! He holds it too, but doesn't really understand that he needs to keep it tilted. We started him on a sippy cup with his dinner; he immediately got ahold of it and loves drinking some water with a little bit of apple juice.

He still cried (obviously) with his shots, but the nurse was so much better with them this time around. Last time she would poke him, he would be screaming, start to get over it, then she would do it all over again. This time she had them all right there and he didn't even have time to think about it in between. His "reaction" was the same as his 2 month ones - just lots of sleep!

Joey has recently started doing some serious razzing to mom and dad! He especially loves to do so when he's eating!! It sure makes a mess, but it's worth it all. He is so silly! He is also belly laughing now. He has smiled, giggled, and laughed for awhile now - but he is giving a blown belly laughs. Aww, it is about the sweetest sound I have ever heard.

Some other milestones - he loves to chew and eat his toes, sitting up for a little bit on his own then he plops down to the side, rolls over both ways, loves to bounce his life away in both his exersaucer and jumperoo, can move around on the floor a lot (for example, we'll put him at one end of his playmat and a few minutes later he'll be completly off of it and at the opposite end!), he loves to do "sit ups", loves to talk away (especially in the mornings!).... I could go on and on! Basically, he's doing great! Although he has reverted to waking up every single night around 3am to eat, his poor little tummy is growling. He always falls right back to sleep though, so I can't complain! His pedi also put him on his belly and told us we were going to have an earlier crawler, so we've started baby proofing the house!

Oh yeah, another thing he has started within the past few weeks.... stranger anxiety. Oh my goodness, it is so sad! When someone he doesn't know starts to talk to him and he can't see me, his lip starts to quiver and he cries and cries! It is so sad! Once I get him, he sighs lol. He loves to snuggle up to me as well, especially in situations like that!

So at his appt he was 14 lbs and 27 inches! His weight is in the 40's and his height is just about off of the chart! He is skinny, but so stinkin cute I just want to squeeze him forever!
