My mood while writing this blog: Resigned.... |
Had my scan today, agreed with my dates of around 5 1/2 weeks along. Gestational sac, but no yolk sac, or pole. They took blood and said they would not really expect to see anything but they would now need to check me for an ectopic because possibly their could be secondary sac. So they took the blood and asked me to return on Sunday to check the difference in the results.
She phoned just now. She said my hcg is high for this point, it's 7000. She is concerned around my previous molar pregnancy and insisted I come in on Sunday. I asked about whether this now meant she was not concerned around an ectopic and she said she still was. So it sounds like it's one or the other.
She said I've not to travel this weekend and to go straight to the hospital if I suffer from any sudden bleeding or pain.
I asked her what was normal hcg for this point, and she then said that my reading is still considered normal, but high.
WTF???

Friday, 19 Jun oh, and at 5 1/2 weeks, here are some normal hCG levels: 35 days since LMP : 18 to 7,340
42 days since LMP: 1080 to 56,500
You are about 38 days past LMP, so you would be greater than 7000, but less than 56 500. You seem to be on target according to these numbers. diane-taketwo -
Friday, 19 Jun I've been thinking about you all day. I'm sorry to hear that your doctor is concerned, but I really do hold out hope for things to be fine. If you have a tilted/retroverted uterus, the fetal pole/yolk can take an extra week or so to become visible on ultrasound. I understand your stance of preparing for bad news, but I will hope for the baby to be hiding at this point, and will make an appearance soon! PS: My ectopic was discovered at 6 w 4 d. There was a 1.5 cm sac, and it was clearly visible on ultrasound. I would insist on another scan before accepting a shot of methotrexate, or similar action. Take care. ((hug)) J9 -
Friday, 19 Jun hey, I'm so sorry you're now back in this waiting and worrying position... you really have been through enough... I really really hope that when you go back the news is better. I know someone else has said this but I've heard of people not seeing anything at this stage too then it still turns out fine so hopefully that's the same for you. I'm thinking of you and will be waiting for news from you soon.. love, Janine xxx girlinterrupted -
