| 22-6-2009 - Woohoo... | My mood while writing this blog:Happier..... |
Okay, here we go.
So I ended up sore yesterday, so much so that I had to lie on the sofa with a heat pack on my belly. My head was in turmoil. I kept on telling myself you will know later when they call with the blood tests what is happening and you can decide if this is pain or cramping. They said they would call between 5 and 6.
....... at quarter to seven I decided I could wait no longer and phoned them. I was going out for Fathers' Day meal with my dad and 14 other family members, and I didn't want to cancel on them.
I called the hospital and they said 'oh the bloods weren't sent over to the lab in time, so the results won't come back until tomorrow, don't worry!!!!'. I hung up, but refrained from slamming the phone down. So there was my dilemma, what was the pain? Cramping or ectopic. I have to say it was more sore than I had with any other pregnancies, but I also know I have suffered from constipation since I found out I'm pregnant. (look ladies, I said it...).
Anyway, went for the meal, took a long, long time cause the restaurant was really busy and the poor chef was on himself. So we are still sitting there around 9pm. At which point my brother tells us my sister-in-law is pregnant again. (She has had three miscarriages, the last one being a couple of months ago). She is six weeks along, with TWINS!!!! They are gobsmacked, as were all of us. They decided this time not to wait until her cycle returned and just went for it. Talk about being most fertile after a miscarriage! So she has 2 heartbeats, for the first time in four pregnancies. She has never had a heartbeat before. She is quietly positive because the hospital have told her she can be. They are feeling very confident and will take really good care of her.
Anyway, just shortly after that the puddings arrived. Most of the puddings were chocolate fudge cake. I suddenly couldn't stay any longer because I thought I was going to throw up at the smell of it. I nudged my husband, made our excuses and left. My poor sister-in-law called later to check if she had upset me because I left so quickly. As we have decided to keep our news to ourselves just now, I could hardly tell her the real reason.
Anyway, this morning I phones the hospital. We went over what the pain felt like and she said I should come in for another scan just to be on the safe side. So I went. And I too have a heartbeat! From Friday, where there was an 'empty' gestational sack, to this morning where I have a yolk sac and a heartbeat, all be it more like a light that was fading and glowing very faintly. I barely could see it, but the ultrasound woman was delighted. She said she had hoped to see a yolk sac today, but to get a heartbeat as well was wonderful. She had this big cheesy grin on her face, whilst I fell apart around her. And most importantly of all, there is absolutely no sign of an ectopic pregnancy. She actually said that my notes never mentioned an ectopic! I didn't get into that argument with her. To be honest I just wanted out of the place, to call my husband.
So there you go, I'm at the end of my fifth week, probably around six weeks tomorrow, which is bang on. And I have a heartbeat. So now I just need to learn to relax. Can anyone help with that one?
