| 20-7-2009 - 10 weeks! | My mood while writing this blog:Phew, what a relief! |
Heeeeyyyyyyy....
Okay, check in time. First off thank you all for your messages today and yesterday and for thinking about me and wishing me well. Guess what? It worked!!!!!
Now the reality, I've been awake since 5am! It's now 3.40pm and I'm about to lie on the sofa and have some well deserved sleep. I woke up really early this morning, and the anxiety (and the sickness) wouldn't go away. I tried to go back to sleep but just couldn't. I eventually gave up at 6.45am and got up.
10.00am I went for my scan. Once again, she turned the screen to me immediately and showed me the baby. It was moving it's hand/arm bud and was bouncing around a bit. She was showing me all of this, but all I could think was, why hasn't she said there's the heartbeat? So I said, are you seeing a heartbeat? And she said yes, it wouldn't be moving it's hand if it wasn't alive! Have to disagree - you are pushing on a wee bag of fluid, and that baby's in it so you might be causing the arm to move. So anyway, once I'd established it was still alive, I was able to relax and enjoy the scan. It was really clear, but then she said Do you want a couple of photos? Hmm, yes woman, why wouldn't I? So she then prints the two crappiest photos out and gives them to me. Honestly, they are very grainy and the screen was so much clearer. My sister-in-law who is having the twins got scanned on Friday and her photos were great. I'm a bit disappointed in mine, but I will put them on anyway. At least I know in my brain what the screen looked like.
So all is well, and 10 weeks is such a milestone for me. We've just visited the two sets of parents and sisters etc, and even Skyped my brother who is working in Thailand (the twins are his babies), and everyone is absolutely delighted and allowing themselves to get excited, and persuading us to do so as well.
So I am going to try to relax now and accept this appears to be going ahead. I've got my referral scan through, and I will be going to the maternity department on 6th August. I hadn't realised that this morning, and I said when I was leaving, I'll see you soon and the woman said I hope not. We both laughed, but I honestly hadn't thought about it. I've not to go back there. I'm no longer an emergency (hopefully). That was a funny feeling. So now I've just got to hang on for another 16 days, and try to avoid swine flu in the meantime.
Right, I'm gonna put my photos on and then I'm gonna sleep. Catch up with you all later xx
