16 week update -
Saw the midwife yesterday and all is well. This is the first time I've seen her as there is a new system in Glasgow whereby all pregnant women go to a Community Care centre. Mine's is in the west end, in the old cancer hospital. So anyhow she checked my blood pressure and it was absolutely fine, took some blood and my urine sample and then listened for the heartbeat and felt my belly. She was pleased with everything. She then said I should come back in 4 weeks, when I will be 20 weeks. I asked her if she would do my 20 week scan, or if the hospital would do that and she said that I don't get one. She said that we don't do that in Scotland, that only happens in England. Like a complete tube I sat there and accepted that explanation. Only when I got out of there did I start to think about everyone else around about me who was pregnant and had a 20 week scan. I'm mad at myself for not saying this to her. So now I don't know why I'm not getting one. And I'm bitterly disappointed too. I will phone the hospital and ask them why they are not doing this now. Perhaps this is part of the new system? The galling part is that I had spoken to her about the loss of fluid a few weeks ago, and whilst she was very keen to re-assure me she did also offer to write to the hospital and request a scan. I said I didn't really want this if she thought everything was fine. If I had known I wasn't getting another scan, then I would have agreed to an emergency one. Better one at 16 weeks than nothing at all. Can anyone is Scotland tell me if they are having a 20 week scan, and where they are having this i.e. hospital or at a midwife centre.
So long story short, if they won't give me one then I can always book a 4d. I was kinda toying with this idea anyway. Earliest they seem to be able to do these though is 22 weeks, so we will see what happens.
Otherwise all is well, and I'm growing well. No movements yet, just a heavy feeling in my lower abdomen. I certainly know I'm pregnant now. I'm finishing up for a fortnight's holiday on Friday, whoopy doo! And it's our 2nd (or 23rd anniversary), depending on where you start counting from, on 14th September. We are hoping to go away for a wee while around that date, but nothing signed and sealed yet.
Further update next week, hope everyone is well........
