18 week update
So we're back from our trip to the Lake District for our anniversary. We have now been married for two years (14th Sep). We stayed in a beautiful guest house in Bowness-on-Windermere called the Cranleigh Guesthouse. Look it up and have a look. It was wonderful. We did absolutely nothing really, some short, lazy walking. Lots of dinners out and oh my goodness three huge breakfasts! We visited another few places around about too, including the Sticky Toffee Pudding Shop in Cartmel Village where we purchased some Sticky Toffee Pudding. And now one of them is in the oven and we are going to eat it! Yumm. You can buy this online and I'd definitely recommend it.
On the way to the Lakes in the car (2hrs, 50 mins), I felt a bit uncomfortable. I told my husband my belly felt like it was tight and it was coming and going. It eventually stopped and I never really thought anymore about it. Then today on the way home it happened again. I have been wondering as to why I have not felt any movements when most people in the 18 weeks forum are saying they have. So today in the car it happens again. I begin to wonder.... is this movement? It's so hard to describe to you, only that it comes and goes, it's not period type pain, definitely not. So maybe this is it? It's not something I've felt before. So I'll just need to wait and see what comes of this. Any descriptions of what you thought movement felt like the first time around would be appreciated.
So I'm off still until Monday, when I go back to work. Boohoo! I wish I was on maternity leave now. Two weeks now until I see the midwife again and in between times all I have to do is grow. And that's definitely happening now. Oh and my new maternity jeans are wonderful (if a little baggy).
So that's all for now. Hope you are all well. Another update next week!

Thursday, 17 Sep my first baby movements felt like pop corn popping in my belly very gently then they got more frequent and eventually stronger. so happy you are well. don't worry if you're not feeling baby yet, they say some people don't feel anything till 22-23 weeks. xx mrslucky -
Thursday, 17 Sep 1st lot of movements feel like wee bubbles like trapped wind, but u'll prob skip that and go straight to proper wee kicks that feel like none other than a tiny foot kicking u from inside! It really does feel like tiny tiny feet :) u'll know when it happens, try lying down with a full bladder and not moving for a bit. Totally normal to not have felt movement by ur stage anyway. Glad ur doing well and pregnancy's as it shud be, getting more and more happy for u each week! U having that 4D scan? X littlesunshine -
Thursday, 17 Sep It could be movement but it could also be braxton hicks. You uterus gets tight with that. Movement to me felt exctly like Diane said like a fish in a bag. aussiegirl80 -
Wednesday, 16 Sep I felt my daughter at about 20 weeks, but when I used to sit in the car (I can't remember how far along I was, though) she would seem to move to one side or the other side and my belly would even look 'lop sided' and it would sort of feel hard and uncomfortable but it was weird because like you, it only happened in the car! The first movements of my daughter felt to me like little muscle spasms in my tummy. cpalmer -

Wednesday, 16 Sep I just took a vacation as well and when we arrived I was having several braxton hicks contractions. I called the dr. and he said it sounded like I had irritated my uterus, told me to drink lots of water and lay down for the day - i did and they stopped right away. Maybe thats what you were experiencing? hope you're feeling better! Diane-taketwo -
Wednesday, 16 Sep I felt movement at 17 weeks, but it just felt like a full feeling, like if you picture goldfish in a bag full of water, pecking at the plastic. I felt real kicks at 23 weeks. With baby #1 it can be hard to tell! Now I want some of that sticky toffee pudding! girlinterrupted -
Wednesday, 16 Sep Yay 18 weeks :-)I'm glad you had a lovely time and you are making me very jealous with all the talk of sticky toffee pudding! The first movements I felt were more like wind/gas. That moved on to little pops. Do you know where abouts your placenta is? Apparently if it's at the front it takes longer to feel movement cos it blocks the kicks. Mine was at the front but I felt kicks at about 16/17 weeks - I think that was because Finley had such big feet and long legs though xxx
