When researching the name Aiden/Aidan, I read from a few mothers that kids call her son Aids and how horrible it makes him feel to have that nickname. You know how cruel kids can be with the nicknames. I always think about the possible/obvious nicknames a child can be called when considering a baby's name. It takes no effort at all really to think of Aids from the name Aiden/Aidan for a child, but I'd never thought of it until I read the mother's comment. Well when I told my 16 yr old son the other day I was going to name the baby Aidan the very first thing he said and without hesitation was, "No the kids will call him Aids, please don't mom." Is that a coincidence, or does the name make it just too easy to be called that? I don`t want him to be tormented all his life or at least from childhood through high school. Its not until your in college that kids aren`t so immature. As much as I love the name, I don`t want him to have to go through that torture most of his childhood. I have to think on it. What do you think guys?

WOW! How cruel, go with whats in your heart and be a good supportive mother to your son so that if a child is being mean to him about his name he will know how to handle it.

Just read your post on names and you are right about being cruel. I was thinking of naming my son Gabriel and my 20 yr old son said no because he would be called Gay boy by kids instead.

Wow! what a coincidence my husband and i are expecting anyday now we kon't know the sex of our baby but the name we chose for our son if it is a boy is Aaden. I look at it like this dids make fun of kikds because of just about anything im going to name him that regardless we actually have two names for him we also have Cayden we are going to see which we think suits him better my sisters think thats a boys name but it works for us!

We are naming our son Max & my 17 yr old said they might call him Maxipad. Dont worry about it. There are worse things in the world that could happen!

I love the name too but I always think about what my kid would like. There is enough trama in the world. If it's his middle name I dont think it would be a problem.

I have never heard of that nickname. no matter what u name him he is more than likely going to get teased for something. kids can be very mean - and that comes down to the parents not teaching them- its so sad.

wow, i cant believe how kids can be, my neighbor is about to have a son and she is naming him Aiden and i actually like the name, i guess you gotta do whats best for your son
