17-5-2009 - Designer Baby Clothes goodMy mood while writing this blog:
good

So my 18 year old said it annoys her when people spend loads of money on designer clothing for newborns/infants. (A cousin of ours had her child in Uggs which they only wore for 3 weeks because they outgrew them). I took her shopping with me and she protested to anything with a name brand on the front. I had already picked up some Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Kohl and other designer duds previously, but this time she turned her nose up to anything name brand. She only seemed to like the unknown labels or Carter's brand at the most. Funny though because she loves designer clothing for herself. Well this is an issue I stay firm on. I will dress my son in designer and non-designer clothing as long as it is cute and reasonably priced. I do agree that spending $50 on a shirt or pants the baby will only wear for 2-3 weeks is wasteful (especially in this economy), which is why I shop at Marshall, TJ Max and Macy's when they are having a stupendous sale. I already feel they make the best clothing for baby girl's, but there are some great clothes for boys as well. You just usually have to spend a little more for something a little different. My family is sure to get the everyday sleepers, t-shirts, onesies, layfayettes and outfits (which I really do appreciate cause he will be wearing it all), but I usually have to buy alot of outfits myself because my taste is bit different when it comes to boys clothing than most of their's. So far here is what I've picked up for him.

I've noticed that boy clothes can look rather cheap when they are not name brand. I love Marshalls, they have the designer duds for the cheap prices. I am cheap as hell but I don't want my son to look that way, so reasonably priced designer clothing he will have.

We are twins on the shopping I can see. My oldest son finds Jordans for my grandaughter for $10 all the time. So now my baby will have the male looking Jordans as he grows....smile

I agree with you imdondee. I spent less than $13 for each of his Kenneth Kohl outfits on clearance, $8 for Ralph Lauren polos and less than $12 for Ed hardy shirts. I usually spend that amount on non-named brand items. Believe me I compared prices and do search for the deals. If its not a steal, trust me I don't buy it. I consider myself a frugile shopper, but some sales I just can't pass up. I Shop at Ross, Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory too.

I believe that a person should be reasonable in what they buy. If you can afford designer then buy them, but buying one designer outfit for a infant with all the money you have whereas you can get three nonname makes no sense. Or spending money on a designer outfit when you cant afford it and have other priorities that should be taken care of is nonsense. Otherwise if you make it then you spend it.
