02-7-2011 - First Trimester and Dental Anesthetic precautions OKMy mood while writing this blog:
OK

Hello lovely ladies.

I have a question that I would like some opinions on.

I have a dentist appointment (for filling) on Thursday June 07, 2011. If I will not be attending, I will need to cancel/postpone the appointment by Wednesday June 06, 2011.

I am in the 2WW and on Wednesday I will be 9/10DPO. Even if I am pregnant, there is no guarantee a HPT would be positive so early. Therefore if I attend my appointment I will not know for sure if I am pregnant or not.

QUESTIONS:
1. Is it better to have them done now (before I can even confirm pregnancy) or if I am pregnant, in the second trimester?
2. Is the dental anesthetic currently being used safe during either of these stages of pregnancy?

All of this caution would be unnecessary if it turns out that I am not pregnant. It is possible that I could be pregnant, but I am not convinced that I am.

All the best to the ladies TTC, pregnant, about to deliver your precious little ones, or who already have them in your arms.

Since I am not pregnant, I will go ahead and take care of my dental needs without question.

chances are, it wouldn't even be implanted enough to be able to receive anything from mother at that point! I'd go ahead and do it....but i'm prolly too late with this comment

I would think that local anesthetic would be fine, but I would call the dentists office and maybe ask them? Good luck!
