05-3-2009 - 32 wks Doctors appt- baby measurements

My mood while writing this blog: happy i got to see my baby

Ok so I went to my dr's today and I gained only 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. YEAH! or so i thought. A total of 8 lbs for the total pregnancy. well the good thing is he seemed so concerned about my low weight gain that I was able to get an u/s done to check on the baby to make sure that she was doing ok. YEAH! I get to see my baby. So dr says that normal size babies weigh about 3 1/2 to 4 lbs at 32 weeks and he didnt think that I would have that big of baby b/c i havent gained alot and i wasnt showing that big. Well they weighed her and my baby is weighing 5 lbs and 4 oz's. Needless to say he was quite shocked especially since im measuring at 32 weeks like Im suppose to. Im like WHOA what a minute..... Im measuring to my 32 weeks date. She is weighing almost 5 1/2 lbs, and i still have 2 months left?!?!?! She better slow down on her eating b/c i do not want to have a big baby. My boys were 6'13 and 7'11 but in my family most of the kids are over 10 lbs so I have been SOOOO lucky!! So if i gained 8 lbs and she's 5 1/2 I'd guess you can say that Im all baby. Well I was just so excited that I got to see her beautiful face and see her moving around with them big ole eyes. Her heartbeat was 160 and I guess she was alot more active then b/c by the time we went for the u/s her heartbeat was 150 ten min's later. I feel so much better seeing my baby girl and knowing that she is doing wonderful!

Wow! That's a really big baby, well at this point anyway. I'm hoping to get my baby that big in time for delivery - I'm going to deliver at 37 weeks. Are they certain about the size and about the date?

Hope the iron treatments worked and that you're feeling a little better - although it sounds like seeing the baby certainly made you very happy. I think the only good thing about a high risk pregnancy is all the ultrasounds. At this point I get to see my little one at least every 6 days.
