26-3-2009 - 35 weeks doctors appt

My mood while writing this blog: swollen but excited

I went to the doctors for my 35 wks checkup. OMG my feel are like puff balls. I gained a quite a bit of weight but doc said not to even count it b/c they knew it was all from swelling! Before yesterday I gained a total of 12 lbs in my entire pregnancy. well after just one week i gained (OMG) "6" lbs. IM LIKE WTH??? But they made me feel alot better by assuring me that once the swelling goes down, the weight will be down. I had the strep test and I was so nervous. This is my third child but my 1st time getting the test. Apparently the test was not required till after I had my last child. Geee thats nice to know. But it was actually nothing. I didnt even know she did it till she said all done. It felt like it went in where the baby comes out. I thought maybe she lost direction, lol. She actually FELT the baby's head, in fact, she said the baby moved her head once she touched it. So my hubby thought that was so adorable. Thankfully she is NOT breech and she is already dropping and in position. She decided to check to see if I dilated any and I was at "1". Which is quite shocking b/c my boys I was at "4" for 3-4 wks. But honey I had some SERIOUS hard, tight, contractions last night. I had about 4 in a 20 minute time frame. So after last night Im probably at a "4", lol. Well luckily I took a pain pill for the pain last night and that seemed to calm her down for me to get some sleep. Im afraid If I didnt that I would probably be in labor right now! I go to dr's again april 1st. KNOWING my dr he may try to play a trick on me saying she's coming or something while he's checking me on april fools day. HE BETTER NOT!! My legs, ankles and feet look the same size as my thighs (which is saying alot, lol) so I GOT to keep my feet up at all times. At work and as soon as I get home, up they go. They were actually itching all over and burning; im assuming from the swelling! I also went to my iron dr, and my iron is now up to a 10.3! Needless to say he was really excited. I got my B-12 injection and I dont have to see him for another 6 months, yeah!

Swelling is so uncomfortable - and to quote Paris Hilton - it's so NOT hot. My hands were really itchy last night. I'm on bed rest for the contractions. I can't figure out how I still manage to swell. They did an echocardiagram today to make sure my heart wasn't the reason for the swelling. Somehow I'm managing to swell while having a really low sodium value - which is stumping them. I think my little girl just likes the attention and it enjoying messing with the doctors.

I get the lung development shots next week and my doctor wants to see me twice a week - in addition to seeing the other doctor, so that's three appointments a week! But it beats being in the hospital. She said she will try to stop labor until 37 weeks, but she said not to count on making it that long. But that would mean she's coming really soon - I still don't feel ready!

Great to hear things are going well. I'm sorry about the swelling, that must be so uncomfortable, but it's almost over!
