My mood while writing this blog: sad |
so its been nearly1 week since i found out that gemma wasnt gaining weight on the breast milk due to it not being as nutrious due to my unstable domestic relationship, which also means its been 1 week since shes been on formula, as some of u know i found the switch really hard to handle because i felt as if i failed my daughter by not giving her what is so called the best.
gemma is thriving on her bottle which is fantastic i mean she put on half a kilo in 1 week where at 1 stage she put on only 35grams on the breastmilk, i guess its hard because she still wants the breast at times and crys becasue i dont give it to her and to see her so upset just breaks my heart and we both end up crying, i know its crazy but i feel like our little bond is gone, i miss breast feeding soooooooooooooooooooooo much iguess i will get use to the whole thing though, feeling like a bad mama aint making things any easier

Saturday, 21 Mar You can go back and try again or pump and give her the bottle. My little one wasn't gaining weight with just breast feeding in the first 2 weeks of life and I supplemented with formula once a day. However, after speaking with a lactation consultant and her direction and reassurance - I quickly dropped the formula and she has been strictly breast fed for the last 4 months straight. It's so difficult yes but we are all capable of doing it. I had to give it the 6 to 8 weeks perserverance before I noticed it was working. It's a commitment and one that we have to persist with because it's easier to give it up then to keep going. Good luck. xox lulu99 -
Thursday, 12 Mar . I am sorry to hear that. But.. can't you alternate and sometimes give her breastmilk? That keeps the bond going and it's beneficial for her.... ask your doc.. katechris -
Thursday, 12 Mar Smile.. I understand what your going through but your not failing at all . Your just using a different method to feed your baby than the natural. it is neither bad or in any way negative. You can still have a special bond with your daughter deep eye contact and skin to ski contact can happen even when you bottlefeed. I had to full bottlefeeed Charlotte for almost the same reason and she is thriving, happy and healthy. Please see the awsome job you have done and be proud of yourself. You are a champion in your daughter's eyes whether you bottlefeed or breastfeed. And sometimes doing both can cause more upset and confusement in the long run( for some Mums.
Take care of yourself.. vicki--mommy of 4 -
