| 26-3-2009 - Gemmas first cold/ umbilical hernia | My mood while writing this blog:ok |
so after going to the doctors yesterday about the funny noises that gemma was making her nose and her gasping for air when she was drinking her bottle, it was confirmed she has her 1st cold, the doc says that she is coping very well, she hasnt been keeping her bottles down to well but she isnt dehydrated or anything which is great, she also had a cough and the hooping cough is going around something bad here.
dues to her coughing i was worried she may have had hooping cough because a week earlier we were in the supermarket when a family friend went up to gemmas face and was breathing all over and stuff then back off after 5 mins and said oh i wont go near ur daughter i have the hooping cough, i was so angry its a bit to latre for that now dont ya think was my response
im rubbing baby balsom on her body and just a bit on her nose and also using some nose drops other thrn thst theres nothing i can do
at the doctors i also found at that gemma has an ambilical hernia for all that dont know what this is...........
When the fetus is growing and developing during pregnancy, there is a small opening in the abdominal muscles so that the umbilical cord can pass through, connecting the mother to the fetus. After birth, the opening in the abdominal muscles closes as the baby matures. Sometimes, these muscles do not meet and grow together completely, and there is still a small opening present. A loop of intestine can move into the opening between abdominal muscles and cause a hernia.

hopefully this will go away on its own by the time she is 4-5 or she will need surgery, i guess time will tell though but i have my fingers crossed
