16-5-2008 - Week 6

April 30^th 2008: Last night was every pregnant woman’s worst nightmare for me. Yesterday was the last day of week five (the week that would not end), at six o'clock in the evening I met a good friend who I used to work with for drinks (in my case a 7up). Before we sat down to commence our girly catch-up I went to the bathroom only to find the one thing I feared most, blood - lots of bright red blood. The nearest maternity hospital was Holles Street - a five minute cab ride away.

On arrival I was asked a barrage of questions and eventually a doctor seen me. Having miscarried before I knew the procedure and feared the worst. The doctor, to my surprise, informed me that he wasn’t worried about a miscarriage as there wasn’t enough blood, but did fear an eptopic pregnancy. After a bit of poking around he concluded that it was neither and that he suspects all is ok. I have to return to the hospital on Friday 02^nd May for some extra tests just in case. Fingers crossed all will be well.
