10-7-2008 - Week 17

My mood while writing this blog: Feeling great

So week 17 has begun and I have tonsillitis. Not the worst case in the world but seeming I have been suffering with it for about a week now I decided to go back down to the doctors. The doctor told me that it was not too bad and that I would probably manage to get away without an anti-biotic. Also did a urine test and there was a small amount of blood present, so the test will be sent to the lab. Nothing overly strange there or anything major to worry about. Anyway while I was at the doctors she decided to do a Doppler test and see if we could find the heart beat.

She searched for what felt like ages and there was no sign of babies heart be to be found. She told me I would probably have to wait until my next visit before I heard it.

Just before she was about to give up however I suggested she try my bladder so she pulled my trousers down further and low and behold BINGO. Baby was sitting right on top of my bladder.

‘Mammy knows best’ were her words to me the moment she found the heartbeat. And mammy did indeed know, mammy has had to go toilet approximately every 15 minutes because baby has spent the last few weeks sitting on top of her bladder.

Anyway, it was a magical experience hearing the little rapid heartbeat for the first time. The only thing I am sorry about is that Chris had decided not to accompany me into the doctors office as he thought it would just be a routine ‘going over’ and had not expect to her the heart, so unfortunately he missed it. But next time hopefully.

Well that’s it for now. I am only 13.25 hours into week 17 so you cant expect me to have to much to write about.
