| 08-7-2009 - Breastfeeding: Month 8 | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Well, I can't believe I have made it this far! I went back to work when Raynor was 6 weeks old; have spent every break and lunch since that day pumping, also still get up once a night to pump some extra, but he's never had to have formula!
Last month I thought I was going to have to give up. I've never been a good pumper (3-4 oz combined was my average) but I had gone down to pumping almost nothing, and was starting to rely on my freezer stash.
I've been very resistant to use medication, because BFing is supposed to be 'natural', I always thought. But my doctor reminded me that its not as easy as that when you are working full time; keeping up a supply when you are away from baby for 8-9 hours a day. I've never had a 'supply' issue, but rather a 'pumping' issue. When bf-ing, my LO always has enough, but I just couldn't pump anymore.
Well, I decided a few weeks ago I was not ready to throw in the towel. I started domperidone (Motillium) and within three days, my pumping is better than it has ever been! I may even drop my night pump soon, as i am getting enough with three daily work pumps!
I can't believe he is almost eight months! Where does the time go?!
