07-7-2008 - Let the wackiness ensue Over the topMy mood while writing this blog:
Over the top

Okay, kiddo. I love you. BUT- last night was a BIT much. I was so hot, so I can only assume you were cranky, too. But seriously, I was doing everything I could to get cool. That ice cream sandwich? Totally for you. And then you start kicking it? Come on. I even asked Dad to try to calm you down, because for some reason all he has to do is coo to you and stroke my belly and you just lull off. Not last night. He gave up. Just said, "Wow, well, I guess you're set up to take a beating tonight." Good Lord. I showered and you stopped the karate, but took up hip hop. A little less painful and no heartburn. It started to storm as we fell asleep. WE. You were out, too. Thank God. I was so tired.

On other notes:
When I wake up, so do you. That's pretty neat. I was a little freaked out when I woke up in the middle of the night, realizing I was sleeping on my back. I rolled over, terrified I had cut off all blood to you, and waited to feel you bump around. Nada. I stretched, which usually causes you to get a wee upset- nothing. Then I started poking around (somewhat frantically?). Pshew. A tiny little shiver. That's enough. Back to sleep. Good news for dad, as I was about to wake him up to take me to the hospital to monitor you!
My feet are horrible. Some days not so bad, lately- never good. Swollen feet (cankles have arrived!). Not the worst thing until I go to stand up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. Then it's like walking on puffy pads of swollen pain! Add into that the fact that one hip or the other is likely to be locked. Dad thinks it's funny. When he does wake up and smile, I make sure to get back into bed as rambunctiously as I can! Anyway- too tight shoes lead to blisters. And I'm putting them one on top of the other. I just can't justify buying a new pair for a month! I think I'd better, soon, though. Mostly over the weekends I'm just barefoot (AH- barefoot and pregnant; makes sense now). But at work I have to have closed-toe shoes. My clogs were great, but now my feet have widened and I can barely get them in there!
Yes, my nipples are getting bigger. It's to trick you into thinking you're getting canadian bacon.
The garden's doing great and I'm looking forward to making your first batch of baby food. Most likely to be zucchini or summer squash. Not sure if I'll mix some rice into it. Don't worry- I'll test it out on your cousin Gionna, first.
The hand swelling has become sporadic. It seems like every other day. Flat-ironing my hair this morning was really hard. When I would squeeze the iron, my hand would fall asleep and then spread all the way down to my elbow! Probably didn't help that it was raised above my head! So I started switching off hands, shaking the affected one while using the other, until feeling returned; switch and repeat.
Your room is READY! 100%. Well, Dad wants a couple more pics, but other than that... Your basinette is READY. I'm getting close to ready, but I'd like a couple more weeks to practice my relaxation techniques. I think 39 weeks is a good time for you to come. Some time between then and 41, so my doctor doesn't try to induce me. I really don't want that for you! I think at 41 she'll mandate it... evil woman!
Took a picture of my belly this weekend. Dad wrote "Happy 50th Birthday Grandma!" in Crayola Markers on it. As you can tell, we're planning a pretty cute birthday card this year!

Well, I really should get going. You take care in there, and be friendly to me, okay?! Expect it to get more cramped and warmer. We can do it together, all right?

Much love,
Mom
