My mood while writing this blog: swollen... with pride! |
First of all, that little emoticon guy had best be chugging ginger ale! My word!
Tomorrow we're throwing a "Big Belly Picnic." Our family and friends are all invited and we're debuting our first home-made beer: Baby Boy Brew... a dark, full-bodied ale with a heavier than normal hop finish (yes, I had a couple of tastes; it's the nature of the beast). We've got our Scotch Ale aging right now, but sadly (hehe, not really) it won't be ready in time (more for me come August!).
I'm super excited for our next door neighbors to come, too, as everyone will get to see what a REAL twin-pregnancy looks like. I've only gotten asked once if I was having twins, by an older guy, but was like, "Dude, if you've ever SEEN a twin pregnancy, that would NOT even be a question on your lips." I look like someone stuck a soccer ball, cut in half, onto the front of me. She looks like someone forgot to cut the ball first- she's SO adorable! And though she's getting heavy/uncomfortable, it's nothing compared to how difficult she had it in her first and second trimesters.
My friend Anna will be stopping by in advance of the party and doing a full-on maternity shoot with "us." I'm pretty excited as she's a great photographer. I've found so many pose ideas online, too. Another thing happening before the party: my parents are doing a walk-through of a house which SEEMS may be their dream house. Brings them half-way closer to me (they're 1.5 hours away now) so I'm really happy about it... but it takes them that much further from my sister (w/ 2 little ones) who currently is about 10 mins away. ;0(
The 26th is my 10 year high school reunion. Someone out of 300 graduates HAD to become a doctor, and I know of at least one RN, so I'm not too worried. Plus, it's a Saturday. So if Dad has to drive me home in my car (Shawn can't make the drive w/ me), it's not like he'll miss any work. Then mom can drive up on Sunday to see kiddo and pick up dad. See, it's all worked out, which means... of course... nothing will happen. Double-REVERSE JINX... now it WILL! hehe.
My right ankle is swelling disproportionately to my left and my right hand has much more severe CT than my left. Haven't felt the tip of my middle-finger in over a week. I was writing a "to do" list at work this a.m. and the tingling/numb got so intense I had to put the pen down! I look at myself side-profile every morning while brushing my teeth (I've been getting ready in the buff as it's so HOT and HUMID). HOLY balogne- kiddo's sunken really low. The (TMI ahead) hairy region has always stayed flat- where my underwear cover, but now it's starting to bulge! Looks like kiddo's wiggling into position. He's not really making me urinate more than normal, but when I do get up to go, the FORCE with which it comes out is amazing! Drinking tons and tons of water, trying to get 2 servings of red raspberry leaf tea in a day, and taking 2 evening primrose caplets/day. I think tonight I may start inserting... unless of course Shawn has plans to give me a dose of the natural stuff. A couple of days ago was our first "meeting" in a while and MAN, did I feel some action throughout the night and the morning the next day. Felt crampy (could just be irritated cervix?) and warm and bloated... like I was preggo-PMSing!
We've got a potluck today at work, which I organized (of course) for a woman's whose bday we missed (yikes!). I'm SO EXCITED! I work with a bunch of Chinese ladies and potlucks are the BEST thing in the world when you're getting authentic chinese potstickers, steamed buns, candies, etc. What will they do once I'm on maternity leave??? Truth be told, I'll probably still organize them and come in w/ bambino for a little field trip.
I'm so glad my doc's okay with me still going 2-monthly visits with her. I'm not sure I could handle weekly. I mean, I don't understand the draw. I'm a 1st time mommy... and will probably go to 42 weeks, anyway!! We work on Vitamin D homeostasis at work and they're all interested in taking pre and post pregnancy and heavy breastfeeding readings on me. I've GOT to get better w/ these needle sticks, though. Always have to lie down for a few mins afterwards... have always had to. But it REALLY starts freaking people out when they walk into an office cubicle and see a 9-month pregger laying on the floor w/ my eyes closed and feet up on my chair! Hehe!!!
Man, I want a nice, tall, steamy vanilla latte this morning.
