| 14-7-2008 - doctor gall | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
My mood is irritated, again. The doctor called me to set up an appointment to discuss with my husband and me the dangers of home birth and to have us reconsider a hospital delivery.
Outside medical care, he really has no business interfering with my birth plans. I am canceling the appointment. My medical relationship with him is over. If I have a serious problem, I will seek a general practitioner, who can then refer me to a gynecologist or obstetrician. I am 28 weeks, and our minds are made up. We are having a homebirth.
I have been disgusted with this doctor's lack of concern about my health and well-being and his overconcern with my birth plans. Last Thursday at my appointment with him (which he instituted, not me), he did not even tell me that every thing looked great. He vaguely mentioned that the results were good, and that was the only mention whatsoever of baby and labor. His focus was, once again, on his ability/inability to be there for me if something were to happen.
This situation is, in some ways, teeter-tottering on a civil liberties law suit, not enough to engage in one at this time. Maybe that's what needs to happen to keep women free in the U.S. Freedom to make good or bad choices. Freedom to choose. I am the last person who would want to sue anyone. Believe me. I would never sue indiscriminantly, but I would for liberty and if it was really prejudiced. It's just as bad as racism and inequality.
This is a girl, supposedly. Can you tell the same? ...
