| 05-8-2009 - momma\'s girl | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
It's funny how people will try to make mothers feel bad about thei rchildren wanting to be around them. I understand that some children are so attached that they do not have healthy relationships with others, especially significant others, but I'm talking about young babies and their bond with their mothers.
Since the day of Ada's birth people have said, "You're going to spoil her. You're spoiling her." Literally, since the very day of Ada's birth people have said this. I'm NOT a spoiler, but I do enjoy my daughter's company. Unfortunately people lump together spending time with a child and allowing children to do whatever they please and dub either of those actions as spoiling.
I completely do not care if I'm taunted and ridiculed for having a close relationship with my daughter. That's what I want. Why else would I bother with bearing a child?
I do not want my daughter's relationship with me to be like my relationship with my mother--strained. I used to be embarrassed of my mother only because there was no positive relationship there, not because she did anything publicly embarrassing. I did not want to be around my mother, talk to my mother, or have friends over because we had a terrible relationship. I want my relationship with Ada to be sweet and mutually satisfying. I always want Ada to know that she can count on me, that she can talk to me, and that I love her. I want her to return my love.
So be it that she is a momma's girl right now, and I always want her to want to be around me and not dodge me.
I`m game, too. What name suits her?...
