04-6-2009 - Dr.'s appt. 38 weeks.

My mood while writing this blog: excited and anxious

Well, I meant to post this yesterday but was busy all day long. I went to my 38 week sono yesterday. The Dr. wanted to measure the amniotic fluid and get an estimate on how big the baby is. It turns out as of now he is approx 7lbs 3 oz and the amniotic fluid was fine. They game me a note to take maternity leave now. She said I was 1 cm and she could stretch the cervix to a 2. That is crazy with all the contractions I've been having and pain, I figured things would be moved along a little more than that by now. Anyway, he was so cute on the screen these pictures don't do it justice for me He was so scrunched up. But, it was a little creepy too, b/c it looked like he was staring at us, b/c she had the scanner right in front of his face, and then It looked like his eyes were open and she said they were and he would blink and his poor little head is sooooo squished. Did I mention how squished he looks????? He looked llike a little sharpe puppy b/c his face was squished. It was cute and funny b/c He was not smiling and I have seen babies make different faces on the sono pics, this was hilarious though b/c he looked like he was in hell!!! He wasn't smiling AT ALL, no he was frowning!! His dad soes have a mouth like that though where the corners of his mouth are pointed down. I guess you would've had to have seen it we (Me and the ultrasound tech) were both laughing.

-I told him to just push his way on out there is an exit, and he has a lot more room to stretch out here!!- but he refuses to listen. Today I am drinking some rasberry tea b/c They say it helps to tone the uterus or get it ready for delivery last week I was eating rasberries. I'm not sure if any of these old wives tales are true but I'll do anything to speed the process a bit, b/c if he's 7lbs 3 oz (and she said give or take about a lb) -then he could be 8lbs at birth and I don't want to deliver a baby over 8lbs! I a little bit, school will start and I am going to put on some swim wear and go down to the pool down the road and just float on this chair float and get a little sunshine. It makes me happy, and it may be the only time I get to do it b/c If I have the baby I'll have to wait until I'm completely healed to swim and that could take longer than 6 weeks. But I will be so into my baby I don't think I'll care. Well here are a few pics from yesterday's sono she gave me for fun, none of it was necessary... top left she took a pic of the foot, to the right- a pic of his frowny face, bottom left- squished up nose and mouth, bottom right a pic of his squished up face and you can see his fore head even had a fold like a sharpe' puppy with all the skin. These pics aren't teh best you can see a lot on screen though while she is scanning over him and I think he looked great and am excited to see him in color! :-)
