||My mood while writing this blog:|
hey there ladies!!!
wooooooooo for 22 weeks :D my doctor has me set on the 5th, but i honestly think that maybe im a week behind? mostly because my belly is only about 1 cm/almost 2 above my belly button... and so many women's are higher. but as they say, every pregnancy and baby is different!
crankiness! this could be because my body is working overtime trying to fight off being sick. damned hawaiian tradewinds!! they are RUINING me! while everyone else is in shorts and shirts with the wind in their hair... im the pregnant chick with her hoodie TIED TIGHT underneath her chin!! lol! i look so ridiculous when i walk the girls :) and my hoodie just barely zips up my front anymore, it's starting to look pretty funny here in hawaii.
belly: slowly getting there! i havent had much pain, but i attribute that to exercise, being healthy and my red raspberry tablets. if i were lazy and didn't try hard- i think i would be in huge amounts of pain! my tummy is growing by the day, literally!
weight: well, i started the pregnancy out a little chubby, 132. by week 9 i had lost about 8 lbs, putitng me at 124. i now weigh about 131/132 on any given day (according to my weight charts that i obsessively keep!). so that is a grand total of 6-7 lbs at 22 weeks. slow and steady wins the race for me!! it's been no easy task managing my weight, as some of it was chub from my 22 week pregnancy earlier this year. i wasn't as near as healthy, and still had a fair amount of chub to work off. so... who KNOWS what im going to look like after delivery! im toning up, but not worrying about losing weight/not gaining weight. im just trying to be healthy for violette. im sure ill slim down a lot after birth though.
nutrition: ive kept a healthy diet since around 6 weeks, on and off. i slipped up at the end of the first trimester, i really wasnt feel well. i was eating mac n cheese and grapes... that was it. at around 17 week si was CRAVING bagels and cream cheese, so i took in a lot of extra carbs and calories for a week or two, (LOL). ive been craving home-cooked, savory and hearty meals lately.. which has been great :) creamy soups, veggie soups, homemade lasagna, cinnamon scones, cookies, breads. mmm. the cookies and scones were only once, i swear!!! at any rate, i eat a FIBER ENRICHED cereal/oatmeal for brekkers, a sandwhich for lunch (usually tuna) or celery/peanut butter and grapes. dinner is usually some delicious meal i spend hours working on (such a geek!) and sometimes we have a dessert (this week: fundip, chocolate chip cookies, a cake, scones). for snacks we always have grapes, apples, toast and pistachios on hand.
exercise: since i feel lke im getting sick ive adjusted my schedule. its been raining more, so we walk whenever we can, i get the girls to the beach everyday.every other day...
my mile time is still ranging 9 minutes on the eliptical- and i still manage to go for 2 miles
i still do the stationary bike for 5 miles
i keep my heart rate at 140 for 3/4 of the work out, and let it get to about 155 for maybe 5-10 minutes, and then i cool down.
i stretch a lot, especially stretches that are good for my pelvis and back
i still have my work out DVD, and i do it occasionally. ive been so busy that the 45 mins at the gym has had to be enough
life: loverly :) the girls are wonderful!! we've been working heavily on socialization and positive reinforcement training. the positive thing is hard for chris and i, as we are both short-tempered irish spitfires... but we are doing well :) half the battle is being patient, and the other half is hard work. small dogs/especially terriers are known for their attitudes, mischievousness, yappy-ness and possible nips. the best way to avoid those behaviors is to keep your dogs tired, and constantly surround them with new, positive stimuli. we go stand outside of dozens of stores, go to the beach constantly, walk around the entire base... the only thing we have left out has been the dog park- but as soon as demon has her final set of shots we will be going there as well.
anyway! enough aboutmy wonderful pooches :D
chris and i are great :) he finally managed to stop drinking all the way :D it took a few months of tapering it off/down, but stopped! the baby sort of cut me off cold turkey- but he had to show some serious self control to let go of his 2-3 a day habit (which is healthier than binge drinking, you nay-sayers!). he's hoping that after not drinking for a month or two, he will have a better chance to stop smoking.
his surgery is still set for march, but we are doing what we can to strengthen his arm to hopefully prevent it. he re-scheduled his physical therapies for 2x a week, and we go to the gym daily. im hoping we can start weights in about a month or two. in the meantime i have arm bands, and weights at home that i use to keep myself strong.
his teeth are slowly getting down. all the route canals are done and over with, he's had about 10 teeth pulled. he has about 12 fillings to go before he can start having crowns in.
he is SO close to promoting. fingers crossed!! we could use the extra money, the higher rank, and better housing.
my mom is flying out for the delivery :) or at least, will be trying to. i was considering inducing, but decided to do it naturally. my family is famous for 3 hour births- from plug to baby. so my mom is just going to have to HOPE and be here, lol!
ive been watching TONS of videos on labor and delivery. from instructional ones, to the actual thing. im not so scared anymore :) i am sort of excited to see how violette and i work together when the time comes- and happy that soon she will be out of my body and with us :) i cant wait to play with her little feet!
OH, and we are VERY close to being done with baby shopping. we are picking up the stroller (peg perego, in revi orange!) today, and already purchased the matching carseat. my friend suggested britax- and we are going with a britax for her after 30lbs seat... but i wanted this seat, and they have very high safety ratings as well. we picked up our sweet peace swing, breast pump, a bunch of small crap (tub, sterilizer, wipe warmer, etc), and the playgym (disney's/einsteins' neptune ocean one!!!!) a bunch more clothes (and we officially have way too many clothes for 0-12 months, lol).... that's nearly everything! we already have the amby bed, diaper bag, tons of blankets, washclothes, grooming/safety kit, pacifiers, shoes, socks, hats...
my mom is purchasing us a crib/changing table set, that includes a dresser. which is REALLY nice of her :) we don't even need the crib yet, violette will be in the amby for about 7-8 months. but we/she wants a set, and we need the changing table soon.
i think that might be it~ violette is kicking me to pee! boy im chatty today :D
