| 12-7-2009 - My eventful yet fruitless night/morning | My mood while writing this blog:tired, \ |
Well, I started getting pretty bad pains around 11pm last night, they were bad enough to prevent me from sleeping and by about 2/3am I was in "don't know what to do with myself" agony..I tried all the usual tricks; paracetamol and a hot bath but they did nothing for the pain...at 5am Wayne woke up and we started timing the conrections; every 3 minutes, lasting around 1 and a half minute each...this looks promising I thought and, as they were still coming regularly at 6am we decided it was time to call the hospital and my parents...
My Dad drove us up to the hospital and I was shown to a private room and strapped up to a tracing machine...Can you guess what happened? My contractions stopped all together! I felt like such a fool having rung the hospital with the whole "I'm in labour routine" only for the contractions to totally stop once we got there! The tracing showed that baby was fine...it also showed that in the haf hour I was hooked up to the machine I had no contractions...well, one but it was so tiny I didn't even feel it myself!
Well, by now I'm feeling like the biggest tit on the planet...Where have my contractions gone?! "I really was having them very regularly before I left home.." I say, more to convince myself than the poor midwife who's time I'm waisting...honestly I now feel like "the girl who cried labour!"
She did an enternal exam and said that it was clear things are happening...I'm dilated, but only by 1cm so not enough for this to be considered active labour...so I'm sent home, I half expected her to offer me a lolly pop and sticker on my way out...I'm SO embarrased that I turned up like that for nothing...
As soon as I got home the contractions decided to start up again...They're not regular any more though, but they are frigging painful...I don't know what to do with myself when one hits...
Since getting home from the hospital I've had my "bloody show" ... well, I've lost a lot of bloody mucous so I think I've had it! (Lol!) So hopefully it wont be long till I'm back at the hospital for real, wish me luck! :)
Hope you all have a great day!
