| 16-7-2009 - My little girl is here! :) | My mood while writing this blog:Extatic! |
Emma's here! My little girl was born on Monday weighing 6lbs 1oz and 50.1cm long. She's perfect, so good at feeding and a perfect, content little baby. I'm so in love with her...She's GORGEOUS!!!
Here's my birth story;
I started getting bad pains at around 11pm on Saturday 11th July, we went to bed but I couldn`t sleep for the pain and by 5am the contractions were coming every 3 minutes and lastng 1 and a half minute each so at 6am we headed to the hospital. They hooked me up to a tracing machine and my contractions stopped all together! After an examination I was found to be 1cm dilated and sent home.
The pains continued throughout the rest of that day and night and by 5am Monday morning I was feeling pretty washed out as I`d been up since about 6am Saturday and hadn`t slept since. The contractions weren`t very regular so I figured I still wasn`t in established labour but I called the hospital and asked if I could come to get some stronger pain killers and sleeping tablets so I`d be ready when labour really started. We arrived at hospital at 5-30am and I was found to be 5cm dilated! I was so excited! I couldn`t believe I`d made it to 5cm and the pain wasn`t even that bad...it wasn`t unbearable anyway!
I went through to a dilevery suite and got set up with an IV (I had to have antibiotics as I was diagnosed with Strep B during my pregnancy) After a couple of hours I asked the midwife for Gas and Air as the pain was getting a bit much. At 11-30 I was examined again and found to still be at 5cm so the midwife broke my waters, everything happened at once then...I shot straight up to 8cm and the pain got really intense, I asked for an epidural, the anethatist came and put it in...I was off my head on the Gas and Air by this point and couldn`t really work out what was going on...the midwife, Wayne and my Mum all had to hold me down while he put it in because I couldn`t stay still!
Unfortunately the epidural didn`t take effect at all so I ended up just getting through on the gas and air...but by 12-30 I was ready to start pushing and with a lot of coaching from a fantastic midwife Emma was delivered at 1-30pm, I didn`t even need any stitches!
I can`t believe how beautiful my little girl is and my labour was fantastic...it wasn`t nearly as bad as I thought it would be! To be honest I can`t remember most of it (many thanks to the Gas and Air) a lot of what`s written here comes from what Wayne has told me...He showed me a video he took while I was in labour and I`m lying on the bed giggling and chattering like a mad woman about flamingos and Darth Vador! Lol...God knows what that was all about!
