10-2-2011 - Good news! :)

My mood while writing this blog: Happy

I went to see the midwife yesterday and everything went well, baby's heartrate was good etc. Then I mentioned to her that I really wanted a water birth this time and wasn't keen on giving birth in the consultant led unit of the hospital. - Our hospital has just built a new midwife led unit for women to give birth in, it's a bit like a birthing centre. The atmosphere is much more relaxed than in the hospital and the rooms are bigger and more private with more equipment like birthting pools and balls etc.

I was going to have to give birth in the consultant led part where I had Emma because of my miscarriage history but I really wasn't keen on that as there were so many people in the room when I had her and people coming in and out, I felt like an exhibition. Anyway when I told the midwife that she said as I'd never had any complications with birth before and I was only consultant led because of the miscarriages it probably wouldn't be a problem. I just have to tell the consultant at my 36 week appointment that I want to give birth in the new part of the hospital and she'll discharge me from her care so I'll have a normal birth next time! =) I'm so excited and really hope the consultant will discharge me (although I can't see why she wont, especially if I tell her my midwife thinks it will be okay!) Hopefully this time I wont have strep B either so I wont be hooked up to an IV and I can move around and go where I want to go when I'm in labour....SO looking forward to it this time around! Lol.
