16-10-2009 - To Jab or Not to Jab? Slightly Paranoid! My mood while writing this blog:
Slightly Paranoid!

Hiya Girlies

My work have just got the first batch of the H1N1 swine flu vaccine & they are really pushing us to be jabbed soon as poss so I just need a quick straw poll & a few extra opinions!

My esteemed employers say that the vaccine has been trialled and licenced as safe BUT i've found out that neither type of vaccine has been guaranteed safe in pregnancy, in fact the drug companies have placed disclaimers to deny any responsibility for fetal abnormalities. I pointed this out to my employers and they say that they would accept liability (but it would be V difficult to prove that liability).

So far we've not even reached pandemic stage on the Island & the virus has been contained, what cases there have been have not been too bad really. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to refuse the vaccine along with most of the Docs and nurses I've spoken to bout this- Any advice appreciated!

Love & Hugs to all Hxxx

Hi heidss How are you ? I hope all is good. I am getting in the mood to start trying again but I first need the famous AF come and go...we will see .... I saw your post about vacc .. and I dont know... I have a MPH so part of me feels it will be best to do it and then the other part feels like getting pregnant is so complex and fragile... not sure if I d want to risk adding something extra that could disrupt the balance of a so hard to achieve pregnancy. Truth be told , I would probably not take the vaccine yet if I had to choose. as dentist we dont have high priority as a health care provider and quite honestly I am ok with that. Anyways just thought I would add to your blog. I hope all si well and that everybody gets good news soon :) ciao ~K

I am also a nurse - and they highly recommend we all get it. That being said - I am refusing it. Not taking any chances!!

i think at times like this you have a gut feeling immediately that sways you one way or the other and this feeling is usually the right one for you to take at that moment in time. it seems you are more against it and i would be feeling exactly the same as you. the trouble with things like this is that if you were to get pregnant and your baby have an abnormality, they know that you would never be able to prove it, they would claim the baby would have been born that way etc etc. stick with your gut feeling!
