19-8-2011 - Wesley & Colton Are One!

Hello Ladies!

It's been forever, since my last blog, but I decided I would sit down and write an update since my twins turned one a couple weeks ago. We had a great birthday party for them on their birthday with family and some close friends. We luckily had a beautiful day for their party and were able to do everything outside. I am seeing the benefits of summer birthdays! They really took an interest in opening their presents and especially loved the bags stuffed with tissue paper! They would dig it all out and throw it all over the place! They also did great with their cakes and made a complete mess. Colton took little handfuls of his and Wesley skipped the hands and stuck his face right into his to take a bite. It was so much fun watching them and was a really great day! I did have a few people ask me when we are going to have the next one and people who were expecting us to surprise everyone with news that I was pregnant again like we did on Greyson's 1st birthday. Uh not anytime soon! We are just getting to a place where we are all sleeping well, it's getting a little easier taking care of the 3 of them and they are off the bottle and strictly table food now, so we are in a really good place now and going back to the baby days does not appeal to me at the moment. In our minds, we really don't think we are done and are thinking about having one more, but we'll talk about it more in a few years and see where we are at. Right now I want to enjoy them getting older and able to do more fun family things together!

I took them to the doctor last week for their checkup and she said they looked great. Wesley was 21 lbs 1 oz. and 28 1/2 in. (both 25 percentile) and Colton was 20 lbs 2 oz. and 28 1/4 in. (both 15 percentile). They just started crawling right around July 4th, and since then they have taken off! They went from doing nothing but scooting on their butts, to crawling, pulling up, cruising and now walking behind their push walkers. Even though Wesley has always been the first in rolling, crawling, etc., I think Colton might walk first. He is more interested in pushing the walker around and likes when we let go and let him stand by himself. They are very competitive so when one starts doing something, the other sees them do it for a couple days and isn't too far behind! They are saying mama, dada, and kitty. I think it's hilarious that all 3 of my boys' first words besides mama and dada are kitty. They love their kitties!

They are sleeping around 11 hours at night and we have finally just recently got them on about the exact same schedule that Greyson is on, which is great because we plan on moving them into his room with him in the next few months. They still take 2- 2 hr naps and they are pretty much a dream now! Greyson still has some issues with sharing and roughhousing with them. He gets pretty possesive over his toys and I have to intervene quite a bit and since they are bigger and moving around, he thinks they can handle wrestling around and stuff, but I have to remind him that they are still little. He is a really good big brother though and when they cry he will go and ask them whats wrong and get things for them that they can't reach.

Their personalities are completely different. Wesley is very social, very silly and thinks it's hilarious when he gets into something he is not supposed to. He always looks back at me with a sly grin when I tell him no and goes right back to what he is doing, definitely my troublemaker! Colton definitely fits the baby role. He is more dramatic, sensitive and a little more serious than Wesley. He is also a little more shy and is always wanting to please, so when you tell him not to do something he will usually stop, unless he is showing off in front of his brothers. They are both really sweet and total mama's boys. They freak out when I leave the room and really freak out when I leave the house without them. It's so funny how different their personalities are!

Greyson is almost 2 1/2 now and he is constantly amazing us with the things coming out of his mouth. His imagination is really taking off and the things he comes up with are hilarious. He loves to help out with household chores like sweeping and loading the dishwasher and is even pretty good at picking up his toys when asked. He has been doing wonderful with eating now and we tell him he needs to eat such and such amount of bites and then he can be done and he usually does it no problem. Sometimes we have battles, but not very often at all. He knows his ABCs, shapes, colors, counts to 20, and knows a few other songs. He is obsessed with everything Blue's Clues and his little stuffed Blue dog has to go everywhere with him. Blue even accompanied him to the dentist for his very first dentist appointment, because he chipped his two front teeth on our front steps. He has been pretty accident prone lately!

He has been daytime potty trained since April and we are waiting for him to stay drier at night before we work on that as right now he still wears pullups to bed. His problem is that he loves to drink, so it's going to be hard to limit liquids to him before bed. He is also still in his crib and is perfectly happy there. Our pedi said to just wait until he is no longer comfortable in there to move him, but I think around the time he turns 3 we are going to at least transition it into a toddler bed, if not a bigger bed. I think he would embrace it with no problems, because he loves to sleep and will sleep anywhere. We are definitely lucky that all of our boys took after their father and love to sleep!
