23-12-2008 - 28 week Doc Appt

My mood while writing this blog: Merry

Well, I just got back from the doctor. It had to have been the worse day to have to go anywhere especially when I had to drive 25 miles. I left an hour early and made it there in 40 minutes which wasn't bad at all and had to wait awhile because they were backed up probably because of the lovely snow and wind. I think I got passed by 3 semis on the highway, but I wasn't putting my life and my baby's life at risk when I didn't know how bad the roads really were especially since I couldn't see them with the blowing snow! Anyway, I have gained 1 pound since last time and only 3 pounds since October 30th! I am so happy about that especially since I've been eating so much because of the holidays. The baby's heartbeat was 153 so he is doing well. She was looking for him down in my lower tummy and couldn't pick it up and then I told her he always hangs out above my belly button and sure enough she found it right above my belly button. Oh and my urine was great which I was relieved because I was on borderline UTI last time, but I increased my water intake and I guess that cleared it up.

Okay now for the crappy part...so they asked if I did my glucose test and I said yes...well here's the story on the glucose test. So I was going to go last Friday to take it but we had gotten the ice storm Thursday night so I didn't want to drive over there, so I saw they were open on Saturday. So DH and I went over to the lab on Saturday and got there around 8:30. It said they opened at 7 but nobody was there. We saw some guy outside that is a mobile currier guy or something so he called and asked if anyone was coming in. Then he told us someone would be there soon and then left. So we waited and waited and then another lady came who did the same thing the guy did and we had her call and she said someone would be there at 10, so we went to the store and came back at 10. Finally around 10:30 someone shows up and there are a bunch of us waiting. So the lady gives me my glucose drink first and then deals with the other people. So an hour later she calls me up to check me in and there is no order from the doctor for me to get this done. Well she went ahead and drew my blood anyway. So the nurse called over there today and they had to check and see if they still had the blood. So now I'm waiting to see if I have to do the stupid thing all over again or if they found the blood or what the deal is. I sure hope they found it!

But anyway now I start going to the doctor every 2 weeks now so we are in the home stretch! And we start childbirth classes on January 5th and go every Monday night, so I'm looking forward to those! I think they will be fun! Everyone have a Merry Christmas!!
