06-1-2009 - 30 Week Appt

My mood while writing this blog: Happy

So today I went to the doctor again and things are going pretty well. I have gained 2 lbs since last time which she said is right on target because in the third trimester you should gain a half pound to a pound a week. That seems like a lot, but I was happy with it considering Christmas, New Years/my birthday was in between appointments and I think I overdid it on food lol. My 1 hr glucose test results were excellent. I got an 86, which is in the realm of what they want for a fasting blood sugar, so I definitely made it under the 140 mark! Phew! Then she told me my iron counts were excellent, so all is good with that.

The baby's heartbeat was 150 bpm and he was laying transverse today with his head on my right side and his legs on the left. I could already tell he was in that position, because on the way to the doctor I felt movement on both sides of my stomach. I think he is out of that position now though. He still likes to move around quite a bit in there. So the doctor visit went fine and I go back on the 20th to meet with the other doctor thats in the office just in case my doctor can't deliver my baby or something and he has to. The nurse informed me that after 35 weeks is when I have to have my weekly dialation checks, so that is right around the corner it seems.

Darrin and I started our childbirth classes last night at the hospital. Our first class was pretty informative with going over anatomy and signs of labor and different stuff like that. There are only a total of 3 couples in our class so its pretty low-key and informal. Next week we start talking about relaxation techiniques and stuff like that. We also have that Baby Basics class next Wednesday that I'm looking forward to.

March is right around the corner and I can't believe we have about 10 weeks left. I think we are basically as ready as we'll ever be for him to get here. I finally have his nursery mostly finished and all his clothes washed and put away. I'll post nursery pics soon! Well, thats about all I have for the time being! Hope all you ladies are doing well!
